Moab Rock Crawling fun at a fraction of the price!
The media could not be loaded. My son convinced me to buy a RC Crawler and I can honestly say I am very impressed with this 1/12 RC Crawler. Pros: -The 1/12 scale makes it so you can really appreciate the details Hyper Go put into the design of this crawler. I love that the body is all metal. This vehicle has some heft to it. My son geeked out when we pulled it out of the box and was so excited that it looked just like the jeeps we saw in Moab Utah. -Includes 2 s2 2000 MAH batteries which is more than enough for this type of car. Battery life anxiety isn't something you'll need to worry about with this car. The charger it came with worked great. -The remote has a ton of useful adjustability features. Steer Trim, Throttle Trim, Steer Dual Rate adjustment, Throttle Dual Rate adjustment. The Steer D/R is very useful because it lets you control how much your front wheels are able to turn. Throttle D/R allows you to control how much power output from 30%-100%. This is nice because it allows you to lower the power when crawling up steep obstacles. But also allows you to go to 100% if you want to drive it to the next obstacle. This car is fast enough it is entertaining and yet slow and torquey enough that it crawls very well. -The lights on this thing are such a great small touch. Looks really cool as you drive it in the dark. Cons: Nothing really stands out as being necessarily bad about this RC Crawler. Maybe that it can get a little squirrely when you have it turned up to full speed and the steering D/R is set to full range. But given that it's a crawler and the suspension is designed different than our bashers so we found we just had to be a little bit more careful with our turns as it can be a bit twitchy. We found adjust the steering D/R to be a little less range helped solve this issue. But I think that is more driver error vs vehicle error and us being used to the wide stance of the basher vehicles and not being used to the handling of the crawler yet. A couple thoughts on things I'd like to see in the future. Currently there is a winch offered by Hyper Go on Amazon, which is reasonably priced, and actually really cool. I need to look into getting one of those. But I'd like to see a few more accessories and upgrades offered on Amazon. Being that it is such a new model for Hyper Go in the US, I am sure we will see more upgrades to come offered on Amazon soon. Brass upgrades and other accessories are available if you Google search for them. Mostly offered on Aliexpress and other similar sites. I brought my crawler into work today and a few of my coworkers had their, 1/18 and 1/24 scale crawlers with them and their crawlers were decked out with brass parts. They said the brass parts help with lowering the center of gravity and keeping the front end planted on steeper climbs. I'd like to see a couple more tire options, with a bit softer rubber compound, and maybe even a bit wider. This could allow the crawler to have a better foot print to mimic "airing down" your tires in your real full sized jeeps. I can see how customizing your crawler can quickly become an addiction. Maybe some other body styles you can buy for it as well would be cool. Over all I would highly recommend this 1/12 RC truck. A lot of attention to detail went into making it and the craftsmanship defiantly shows. This car has been fun for my sons who are 8 and 11 years old, as well as fun for me and my co-workers that are all 30's and mid 40's. They all commented on how cool it looked and how much fun it was to drive. I am happy with my purchase and look forward to driving this more with my boys and co-workers.
