I love this dispenser. I use foaming soap in my bathroom and kitchen, and I purchase large refill bottles of the soap so I'm always refilling the bottles I have. But I'm never happy with the flimsy bottles in which the soap originally comes. The pump mechanism makes those units top-heavy so they topple or slide around when you push on the pump. But these InterDesign bottles have a larger round base and are much more sturdy. Plus, they look much better than the brand bottles! The brushed chrome finish matches the hardware and other accessories in my bathroom and looks like it belongs as part of the decor. I loved this enough to purchase a second one for my kitchen and I've had my dispensers for about a month now. The pump mechanism has not stopped working on either bottle. I'm currently using regular liquid soap mixed with water (amount/ratio indicators on the bottle) instead of foaming soap and it works great! Given what I paid, I'll be happy if these dispensers last a year. I did deduct a star because one of my dispensers leaked. At first I thought I and my guests were just going through a lot of soap during the holidays. But last night I filled the bottle, dried it and set it on a dry paper towel. Sure enough this morning approximately one inch of soap had drained from the bottle. There is a seam on the bottom of the bottle and I suspect it was defective or was damaged in the delivery process. I'm returning that bottle for a replacement since my other bottle has no such issue. The Amazon return process is pain-free, so this was an easy decision. UPDATE: I received my replacement bottle and when I was transferring the soap from the old to the new, I noticed that my old bottle was actually cracked. I'm certain this was not a defect in the bottle. In fact, I'm probably the one who dropped it and didn't notice it had a tiny crack in it. I notified Amazon that I would not be sending it back and to simply charge me for the replacement but they told me to keep both bottles and they aren't charging me for the replacement. THAT is customer service! I've added in the previously deducted star. Thank you Amazon and InterDesign! PS - the pump on my dispenser is still working fine. Based on my experience with other foaming soap dispensers (and some of the other reviewers' advice) I'm sure it will be a matter of running hot water through the mechanism to loosen and dissolve dried up gluey soap when it does happen. I had high hopes for this, that perhaps it would last longer than the bottles I have bought foaming soap in & reused. But no, it didn't even last thru the first fill. About 1 inch down from the fill line- on the very first use, the pump started sticking. Others have said they fixed this problem by trimming a tiny bit off the bottom of the pump tube. Doing this should only fix the problem IF the problem is that the tube is long enough that the end gets sucked against the inside of the bottle & blocks upward flow. It kind of felt like maybe that might be the problem. But no, it was not- trimming the tube did nothing to fix the problem. Even tho the pump was sticking on every use, I continued using it, manually pulling the stuck pump back up after every squirt. This worked for about 4 fills. Then it stopped dispensing foaming soap & started putting out watery suds that were difficult to dispense & just not really useful. That was when I gave up & chucked it. I suspect there is a design flaw inside the foaming chamber part of the pump as, no matter the shape or size of the pump head & bottle, every single bottle I've used has behaved exactly the same way. !!! When spending $10 for nice looking soap dispenser, you think that you are getting something better than the low-end dispensers, but you're not. like every single other foaming soap bottle I have ever used (all of them reuse bottles bought with soap in them), this one crapped out. I think there is a design flaw Read more

I found a great foaming hand soap dispenser! The clear and brushed nickel design is both modern and functional. The fact that it can convert regular liquid soap into foam is a fantastic feature. I appreciate how the level markers help eliminate guesswork when mixing soap and water. It's also a plus that it's made of plastic, making it more durable. Highly recommend. Read more

I have saved so much money making my own hand soap! I used to make my own soft soap by grating a bar of soap, but I found it left a film in the bottle. My new way of making foaming soap is to use Palmolive Soft Touch (Aloe) dish detergent. I fill it to the fill line on the soap dispenser bottle with detergent, and then to the top fill line with water. I added a little scented oil....maybe half cap or a few drops. This formula will make tons of soap for pennies a bottle! The reason I used this type of dish detergent is because it has a very light scent to begin with and it doesn't hide my scented oil. Also, I like the pale sea green color of the dish soap. You can buy scented oil online. A bottle will last a long time since you only need a tiny amount to make the soap smell nice. But even the Palmotive Soft Touch Aloe smells nice alone. As for the bottle, I really like it a lot. It's a much better quality than the dept. store foaming soap bottles because the plastic is much thicker. The pump works good and the shiny silver top matches all my bathroom accessories. Read more
