Bought one of these from an IKEA store about 5 years ago. This is the perfect set for your straight edge kitchen knives. Using rollers rather than a fixed 'V' gives you a much smoother edge when you sharpen. I use this on my filet knife before every use. Just a few passes through the fine wheel and the knife glides through fish or meat. I use it pretty frequently on my other knives too, particularly right before preparing a big meal where I know I'm going to have an easier time with a fresh edge. This probably isn't going to be your sharpener for high grade pocket knives. My Benchmade's edge (154CM steel) was unaffected by this sharpener. If anything it just dulled it. For kitchen knives it's perfect. Just replacing it now to get fresh wheels. Read more

While it does shrpen knives to where they work ok it is nothing close to as good as other knife sharpeners. Will not be using on my butcher or fillet knives. Read more

I found that it did a good job on my Ikea knives, but not on my Henckel knives. I still had to use my stainless steel honing stick on the Henckel knives to be able to slice a newspaper sheet. Has anybody had this problem too? Read more

It may take a bit with the course wheels to re-bevel your knife. Don't move on till you get a rough but sharp edge. The following wheels are for refining the edge and won't work if the bevel is wrong. Read more
