I wasn't sure if my kids would be scared at first, but they ended up really enjoying it. It was cool to see how it crawled forward, backward and even does a full turn on the wall. It does make a slight fan noise while on, but nothing too loud. The suction works well as long you don't block the sensor when placing it against the wall and make sure you not to tear the white paper underneath it, since that helps grip it better. Got this for a group of kids to share on Christmas Day. Didn't realize that the spider had to be charged so it was good that we were having a long visit. It is very lightweight - which I suppose is necessary to help it crawl up the wall - but don't let the kids argue or thrash around with it. Ours did and we heard something go crack and I thought one of the legs was about to come off. Don't know what they cracked and it seems to be in one piece. But it does crawl!
