Wow ! We bought a new wood stove and I round spring type thermometer for it. For months we thought our stove was over firing and tried everything to have the stove cooler. We adjusted the doors, adjusted the ash door and had a chimney flue installed. Nothing worked so we were talking about selling it and buying a different brand of wood stove. We then had 2 different wood stove technicians look at it. They both said get rid of that cheap dial thermometer and buy a infrared thermometer. So we then bought this Mestek thermometer. OMG ! Unreal! The difference between the 2 thermometers were unbelievable. When are dial thermometer was showing 1,000° this infrared thermometer was showing 625°. It is put on mind ease. We are not up for hours at midnight trying to get the stove to cool down. For the first time since we bought this wood stove we now love it. What a saving grace buying this infrared thermometer was. This Infrared Thermometer Gun is exactly what I was hoping it would be. I do a lot of resin & wood art and knowing proper temps not only in my room, but of the actual epoxy is crucial for some of my experiments & projects that I am doing. Some of the techniques requiring waiting until your epoxy reaches a certain temp., probes are messy with resin, become a hassle, sometimes it starts curing & you have to toss them out or they become inaccurate. I really didn't want to shell out more money for a temp gauge but I am sure glad I did. Just the time this is saving me & the Prime Day Deal made it all worth it. This one I can literally point it at the surface & get a pretty darn close reading. It's been accurate for the most part every time. Comes with very thorough & complete instructions. There's so much to this product and I haven't even used all of its capabilities as of yet & I may never use them all LOL but knowing that they are there when I need them gives me peace of mind! Added probe attachment is a great bonus feature! Construction of unit is solid, durable housing. Not flimsy. Comes with a holster style case to keep it clean & dust free when not in use. They even included the 2 AA batteries, cheapy ones, but nonetheless they are there to get you started. Looks & feels comfortable in your hand. Grips nicely. Size is perfect. It's not overly huge, fits in a drawer, tool bag, shelf, closet, etc. without taking up a lot of room. I have a feeling I will be getting a lot of use out of this way beyond the craft room. So many things you can check the temperature of & will come in handy for that you don't even realize, At $39.99 (at time of posting this, 10/16/25) I feel it's a little, teeny bit on the high side. Perfect for my new home built pizza oven. Ruined a few pizzas prior to getting this because I didn’t have a way to know how hot the cooking surface was. Other laser stopped at 600°. I like to get my cooking slab to 700-750° for that perfect “leopard” bottom! Read more
