These are fantastic! I have a preteen daughter who has concerns, as we all did at that age. Making sure she feels comfortable, protected and that she won’t become embarrassed about any accidents is my goal. I have a similar pair of period panties and having that extra layer of protection is a peace of mind that I absolutely wish I had when I was her age! These are great to wear with pads or tampons as an extra layer of protection but also just on its own on light days. They wash really well, are true to size and I especially love that the liner on the inside goes all the way up the back where leaks are most likely to land when laying down. The material feels nice and there isn’t a weird sound or anything when the material moves that indicates that maybe she’s wearing a “diaper” or anything that could get her teased at school. They lay flat and fit like normal underwear so visually there is also no indication she has anything extra on down there. These are absolutely worth having on hand for those who get periods! I purchased three packs of four, two packs in Lilac Daze and one pack in Solid Black, size 10-12, for my 10-year-old daughter, who is 5'1" , 78 lbs, and the size fits her perfectly. The fabric is soft with just the right amount of stretch, making them very comfortable to wear, and the colors are lovely. The padding helps prevent stains on clothing, but it does not fully absorb liquid. These shorts are excellent for protecting clothes briefly, but she needs to change immediately to remain dry and comfortable. She loves them because they stay in place and do not require constant readjustment like regular underwear. I have added a video demonstrating the absorption, which may be helpful for others. I would not recommend these for full menstrual protection as they are not designed to absorb enough liquid for that purpose. Read more

I ordered these for my almost 10yo, having never used a product like this myself. I was concerned how she'd feel about boyshorts as panties, but she seems to find them comfortable and hasn't had a single complaint in that regard. As a whole, they feel more like bike shorts than panties. The crotch lining has what feels and sounds like a light flow pantyliner sewn into it. I washed these before first wear to make sure the liner stayed in place and didn't bunch up, and the first wash test went well. She was able to wear these on Day 1 with no extra liner. However, sometime on Day 2 she felt a little less comfortable about the absorbency of the flow, so we added a normal pantyliner on top. Washed the Day 1 underwear again, and once again they stood up to the washer machine. No stains (because women know that even black will stain from blood), no bunching. She's on Day 5 now, and I've told her she probably doesn't need the extra liner anymore for this month. So these are great for the first and last day of flow (for an average young girl) but may require an extra liner for the middle days. They're comfortable, and probably a great idea to wear in the days leading up to a flow (for those who are regular). I think my daughter will do that because she's deathly concerned about staining her normal underwear. Overall worth the purchase, especially for those in their first year or so of "womanhood."
