World great, transcribes fair at best, I'm a sloppy writer though

alex k.January 13, 2026✓ Verified purchase

Works very good, transcribing is not so good. I do have very sloppy handwriting though. Seems to get about half correct. All I need to is back up my notes though for work don't need it for a transcribing. I'm a mechanic and I'm not the cleanest. So far it's worked even when pages are a little dirty. Also pin rights very well Read more

Smart Notebook That Actually Fits Into Real Workflows

UndauntedFebruary 14, 2026

I’ve been using this daily for work for about two months now, and overall I really like it. Writing on real paper instead of a tablet screen is a big win for me, and it’s awesome how the notes just show up in the app when you open it. The sync has been smooth, and having everything on my phone later makes reviewing meetings and organizing thoughts way easier. You do have to use the notebook it comes with, but refills are around $6 each, so that’s not too bad. My biggest annoyance — especially for the price — is that I don’t see a clear way to replace the ink cartridge once it runs out. For something at this cost, that feels like a miss. Also, the cap design means you have to close it a specific way, and it seems easy to accidentally mess up the ballpoint if you’re not careful. That part is frustrating. Still, aside from those issues, I genuinely enjoy using it and it’s been a solid addition to my work setup. Read more

I think it's pretty incredible. Review transcribed from device, fyi.

SevJanuary 10, 2026

To put this to the test, I'm writing this review on the INQ pad and pen. Prior to this, I've only had the chance to write a few pages, but I've been impressed with the accuracy. I've used both as cursive and printing and have been seeing great success with the translation of both. This is really impressive because my handwriting is a mess. The only quality issues I encountered were when the ink would not come out of the pen. (Note: that initial portion was handwritten and then translated, cut and pasted, from the Inq pad. See photos) I really like this device! I got it to take notes to be downloaded for when my son and I go birding or wildlife viewing. I journal our national park trips on my kindle scribe, and that made me want to get something to field journal wildlife viewing for immediate logging purposes. And, here we are. As stated above, the initial portion of this review was handwritten on the Inq pad and then I cut and pasted the translation from the app. It nailed every word, and has done so on each of my uses. I embarrassingly attached screen shots so you can see what a mess my handwriting is and how impressive it is that it can decipher my print. It's pretty humbling how quickly my hand cramped from actually writing again instead of typing or swyping. I intended to do this whole review on pen and paper, but my hand fatigued too quickly. As far as the equipment, the pen holds and writes like a real pen, though the ink doesn't feed perfectly sometimes. It still translated, so just keep moving if that happens. The paper looks and feels like normal paper, but you do need special paper for it to work. The notepad has a good amount of pages and there's an assortment of sizes and brands out there for you to choose from. I bought a few of the pocket sized ones, and they're great. The app, pen, and paper all function smoothly together and are easy to use. The app gives you instructions on what to do and the steps are all very simplistic. The only thing I haven't found is a way to delete a specific page. So, the first page I did, where I was just writing silly stuff to see how well the system worked, well... that's my first page in the archive. It is what it is. In my opinion, it's a pretty incredible piece of equipment. Most of my journaling is in cursive, which none of my kids read. So, the provided text conversions will be really helpful to them. I highly recommend the Inq! It's a great product for the price. Read more

Works great for saving what you wrote

A KaiserFebruary 3, 2026

The main use case here is having automatically "scanned" copies of whatever you wrote in the notebook. This is pretty handy in a workshop setting -- you can be working on a project, making notes, taking measurements, etc. Later when you go back to the computer to tinker in CAD, you've got all your notes in one spot, without carting the notebook around. If you are on-the-go and need to refer back to what you've written, you've got the PDF copies all at your fingertips. I do not bother with the other features: the transcription does not work properly. It summarizes your handwriting in very unusual (and often flatly wrong) ways. I do not bother with it. Most of what I'm doing is sketching diagrams with measurements and labels anyway. Finally: you 100% need to use their notepads. The inq notepads have a microdot structure on them that the pen uses to know where it is writing at any given moment. The app works OK, but you'll need to pop it open every now-and-then to sync from the pen. I am pretty happy. It works reliably and fits my use case. Read more

Great for engineers or people who make a lot of drafting.

BuyerThatDoesResearchFirstFebruary 12, 2026

I measure and draw a lot of different parts. Very often I need to refer to original drawings much later. But it’s very time-consuming to search through the old paper notebooks. This pen solves it. It has a camera sensor looking down to the paper surface. The included notebook has a special microdot encoded paper. By reading microdot patterns the pen knows where it is exactly positioned on a page and what page number it is on. If the pen is not connected to the phone at the moment it stores drawings or text offline and then uploads it to the phone once connected. It has a USB-C port on top. A charging cable is included. The extra notebooks are not that expensive. You can print microdot encoded paper yourself but you need a high quality color laser printer with at least 600 DPI resolution and those prints will be more expensive per page than bulk printed inq notepad pages. The companion app also lets you record speech in real time. Recorded speech helps with transcription. Read more
