I have a Aussie Doodle who is an aggressive chewer so trying to find toys for her that will last and are fun can be challenging. She loves this ball. Our Golden Retriever puppy who is 11 months old, just loves to play with this ball, we bought her the pink color! She will nudge it, toss it in the air, carry it in her mouth, lay on it and everything else!! She just loves playing with this toy ball! I think the best part of this toy is the “crazy” (last/yellow colored) setting, where it will jiggle on its own several times before it goes into “sleep" mode if your dog doesn’t interact with the ball during that time, which saves on the battery usage (drainage). Wild, self-propelled activity ball with a few different settings. Getting it started and inserting the motor was a tiny bit of a challenge. Read the instructions! There are different color light indicators for the different settings. Keep pressing the button until set. Then insert (the correct way - the square nub that spins it must be in correctly - and screw closed. I like how it closes tightly. I presented it to my dog on "jump mode", and she was not impressed. Me? I was so excited! We tried "roll mode", which she seems to like more, following it around and sniffing it. Note: Once again, my cats like it more! They are freaked by the "jump mode" but love the "roll mode". The "combo mode" would scares them too much. The batteries work pretty hard running this ball, the motor is loud, and I was concerned to find that the motor actually got warm to the touch after a play session. I would monitor play time with it (of course you know to do that) but I wouldn't just let it run non-stop. Outdoors it might be fun, but take care not to use it in wet grass (even though it does screw in very tightly). For dogs who have a nibbling problem with toys I would watch them and take it away before they attempt to rip it to shreds, even though it's made of dense foam, I'd watch for that. I haven't had to recharge it yet, and we've had several play sessions. It takes a C USB cord, so it's simple to charge, with indicator lights to tell you when it's ready. This is a great all-around ball but I think the thing that impresses me most about it is just the Herculean battery length that it has. Between my dog playing with it and the fact that it's activated whenever it's touched it gets used quite a lot and I swear it lasts at least a week without me recharging it. That alone is amazing because it can be really annoying to have an interactive toy that your dog loves only to find yourself having to recharge it everyday. I honestly don't even know how this ball accomplishes this magic because the interior part is really not that big. The next great thing about this ball is that it's made for chewers. Granted my dog is not a super aggressive chewer and I'm sure that a dog that really was intent on destroying it probably could, but from my dog's Play It's really got no damage and can take a lot of wear. The outside is like a thick super Nerf type material, but much stronger than Nerf. Sort of like rubber Nerf but soft if that makes sense. It screws in half and all of the mechanical bits and buttons for adjusting it are inside so there's no way for your dog to break the mechanical bits from the outside. It has several different settings on it, you just got to kind of play around to figure out which one your dog likes most. I leave it on the interactive setting that then jumps around a lot as my dog plays with it. That also seems to work best on carpet. There's another setting where it doesn't jump so much but that doesn't really do a lot on carpet. I will say that along with its battery life it does take a long long time to charge. Maybe even like 5 hours or more. I usually leave it plugged in all night to be honest, although I've only had to recharge it three times since I've had it. I'll add my dog isn't ball obsessed, he's more prey interested so he likes the movement of the ball. A dog who's absolutely ball crazy will probably run the battery down quicker, but if it lasts a week for my dog it's still probably got to last at least a couple days even for the most ball crazy dog. The price point for this is really good because I've gotten lots of interactive toys my dog is able to break or seem to run out of battery in about 20 minutes. So far this is the top of the line interactive dog toy I've gotten, and the peace of mind that my dog can't easily break it is itself worth the money. I feel like I can leave this with him without supervision because he really can't get to anything harmful. Every other interactive toy I've gotten for him I have to watch him play with because if he really wants to he can definitely start to chew into the mechanics. This ball is so simple and yet so much better than most interactive toys out there that it's definitely worth the price in taking a shot on.
