The media could not be loaded. I’m still a somewhat new adherent to daily SPF, so I’ve been trying out a lot of different products. I’ve had good luck with Isle of Paradise so far, and like facial sunscreen sprays well enough, so I decided to give this body version a try. This comes in what feels like an aluminum bottle and is pressurized/aerosolized. The mist is very fine and wide enough to cover a fairly large area, which makes application easy. There isn’t a traditional lid, but the spray top is lockable with a simple twist, and I had no issues with leaking. The can itself is lightweight and easy to handle. Just like the facial version within this line, this has a lot of fragrance. It’s fruity and the exact same scent as the face spray. I personally like it, but it’s very strong and it lingers, even hours later. If you’re sensitive to fragrance or prefer unscented products, this would not be a good choice, because the scent is not subtle and it does not fade quickly. In terms of how it performs on the skin, this is alcohol-based and dries down fairly quickly. It looks wet on the skin for a short time and then evaporates. There is some tackiness afterward, but that wears off within about half an hour. Once it settles, the skin feels very natural, basically like it did before application, maybe slightly more hydrated. Despite the alcohol base, I did not find it drying at all. I think this works well for people who are comfortable with fragrance and are looking for an easy way to reapply SPF. I don’t think spray SPF is the best option for full initial protection, but it’s very convenient for reapplication throughout the day. As far as value goes, this isn’t necessarily budget-friendly, but it’s in line with other higher end SPFs. Unless you’re buying something very basic, most comparable products are in the same range. The quality overall feels consistent, and worth the extra expense for better than average aesthetics. Read more

I’ve used Isle of Paradise self-tanning products before and have always found the brand to be high quality, so I was excited to try their Daily Defense Body Mist SPF. While this does its job in terms of sun protection and convenience, it didn’t quite live up to the same standard as their tanning drops for me. The bottle size is generous, and I appreciate the twist mechanism that lets you easily open and close the spray nozzle by turning it left or right. The mist itself sprays evenly and covers the skin quickly, which makes application fast and convenient - especially for larger areas of the body. That said, the initial scent is very strong. On first spray, it smells intensely like hairspray, to the point where I found it overwhelming and slightly choking unless I was in a well-ventilated area. The brand mentions a signature fragrance with notes of juicy orange and jasmine, but it took quite a while for that initial spray smell to fade enough for me to notice anything softer, and even then, it was very subtle unless I put my nose close to my skin. Anyone sensitive to fragrance should be aware of this. The formula goes on quite sticky and tacky at first, and while I expected it to dry down more fully, it continued to feel oily and noticeable on my skin. It does leave the skin looking glowy and radiant, which I can appreciate, and there’s no white cast at all. It also seems to hold up well against water and sweat, which makes it suitable for outdoor activities. I personally wouldn’t use this near my face. Although the product mentions working under makeup, I accidentally touched my eye after applying it to my body and experienced immediate stinging and watering. I do have sensitive eyes, but that confirmed for me that this is strictly a body-only sunscreen in my routine. Once applied to the body, it didn’t cause irritation or burning on my skin itself and actually felt soothing in that sense. The ingredients like niacinamide and cica are a nice touch. However, the lingering oiliness made me very aware that I was wearing sunscreen, and I don’t think it would wear well under everyday clothing. Overall, this does provide broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection and follows standard sunscreen guidelines for reapplication. I think it works best as a quick, convenient option for beach days, pool days, or outdoor summer activities where ease of application matters more than finish. For daily, all-over use, though, the strong spray scent, stickiness, and eye sensitivity issues make it less ideal for me. Read more

There is no way for me, a regular non-chemical engineer consumer, to test the efficacy of this sunscreen. Much of what we use on a daily basis really comes down to who we trust and whether they know what they're talking about. So, do I trust this brand to tell me the truth about this sunscreen? I had never heard of them before I picked this container up, but I checked reviews from a popular beauty store that carries the line and it seems like a legit company. If you are worried, I recommend reading some reviews from people who ARE chemistry buffs to really determine how well this blocks harmful rays. So what can I review on this product? The packaging is cheerful, with a nice feel and color scheme. The scent is pleasant, like Aussie hairspray -- sweet but not cloying. The atomizer mists out a wide, even spray, which is super handy to ensure good skin coverage. The formula itself is not super tacky once fully dry, although it does stay shiny and isn't satin-like, which is my preference. The sunscreen seems to work, although I can't definitively tell. I would recommend this product for scent, coverage, and feel. I hope it really is blocking the sun's rays, because I like the product! Read more
