Seems to have reduced scale

New house, new lines on same well. In old bath and kitchen we had serious scale issues and could literally see how rocks were formed by calcium deposits in a few months of use. Put this in line with a carbon filter in new house and was skeptical of it preventing buildup. Now that a few months have gone by haven't noticed any buildup in shower, stool or sink. The hot tub was scaled over and the filter was about 15 lbs from the calcium build up. Switched to water that was from the filter and have not seen any difference. So... It seems to be working as a preventative measure for those with new appliances or clean fixtures. Unfortunately those with encrusted tubs or fixtures will have to descale them with other means. We recently moved to a house with well water and for the first time in our lives had to deal with sediment - fine sand really - in our water. We noticed it primarily in the cold water inlet to our washing machine. After some research, I discovered this and almost couldn't be more pleased. As a filter, it works amazingly well, it rinses very easily (and powerfully) but installing it left me wishing there were better surfaces on the filter by which I could grab it with a wrench or pliers. If it had better surfaces to grab, I'd give it a hearty 5 stars. As it is, I have no hesitation giving it a stout 4 stars.
