I'm kind of an espresso snob and spent many years stationed in Italy / Sicily where espresso is a way of life! I needed an alternative to the pricey Nespresso brand and these certainly fit the bill. Not only are they cheaper, but they taste much more like an espresso I'd have gotten in Rome, Florence, Milan, or Venice. And that's saying a lot! One thing I really appreciate, outside of the taste, is that there is a great foam / cream on top. That's a huge piece to a really good espresso. These are some of the best espresso pods I've used - to the tune that my family has gone through about 4k of these exact pods since finding them in 2020. I usually get pods from TJ Maxx for the price per pod. In clearance section, you can sometimes score $0.30 per pod. This is cheaper and tastes as good as the brand that TJ Maxx carries. Also, it gets delivered right in front of your door. Don’t have to bring a wife to TJ Maxx and spend an extra $100 when you try to save pennies on pods. It’s strong, fits perfectly to Nespresso machine, and it functions correctly. Read more
I think I have written a review for this product before, but my husband has me keep ordering it and the quality and price haven't changed over the years. He says it's got a good, strong flavor, maybe not the best or most complex, but consistent and tasty for an everyday double or triple. The Italian capsules seem to pack a lot of coffee inside so you get a richer pull, not thin (he hand empties his capsules for compost, so has noticed the differences between brands). And at the price of $0.25 each, it's easy to stockpile these for when he runs out of more expensive ones. FYI His tastes do run to the higher intensity end of the range; e.g., his favorite capsules are Peets 11 and Lavazza 12 (he's still hoping to find 13), and these particular Delicitaly are also the highest intensity we can get on Amazon, so beware if you're not a fan of a strong brew. I wanted cheaper espresso pods (than my regular brand) for my daily coffee-shake so I ordered the Espresso (red box) and the Ristretto (black box) Positive points: PRICE 👍🏼 and STRONG coffee taste that i like, especially the Ristretto! 👍🏼 On the down side: 1) NOT GOOD FIT: pods are a little difficult to insert in the original Nespresso machine, and they are likely difficult to extract and to drop in the bottom waste container after use… 👎🏼 2) pods are made of PLASTIC (vs other brands aluminum pods) thus not compostable 👎🏼 3) SLOW RUN of the water through the pod… CONCLUSION: i prefer by far the strong taste of the RISTRETTO (black box) compared to the regular coffee (red box) but for the reasons listed here above, this brand is not going to replace my current regular supplier.
