We used to have one like this that was motion sensing, but over time the servos stopped working and was really frustrating. I'll never get an automatic can again. This push pedal model is awesome and all around very high quality for the price. It's large and easy to clean. Read more
What's not to like about this Touchless, SoftStep 20 gallon pedal activated trash can! And the speed of delivery and packaging were exemplary! It arrived with just a couple of days after ordering, with styrofoam on the top and bottom to secure it from being bashed around in the box, plus covered with a plastic sleeve. Extremely well protected! And as it slipped from the box, the first thing that struck me was the beauty of the finish, a brushed look that did not show any of my fingerprints! I love that! The pedal works beautifully and the lid opens and closes without any sound whatsoever! I am extremely impressed with this trash can. We purchased it as a donation for a Community Sensory Room and the 20 gallon size, though it looked really big when I first unpackaged it in the foyer of our home, is the perfect size for the Sensory Room! 30 gallons would have been too big and 13 gallons too small. Like Goldilocks, 20 gallons "IS JUST RIGHT"! LOL Yes, I would recommend anyone to get this trashcan, and yes I would and am likely to buy another one for my son and his wife for their kitchen as they need one this size and have the perfect spot for it. The lid works great, can has a tough feel to it. Bought with the intention of having the can underneath a countertop. For whatever reason even with quite a bit of clearance the lid has an issue with it, indicator circles around, and then will not respond to any action. Pull the can back out and it works just fine. -update- Baterry life is very short, even when using suggested alkaline batteries. Go for a plug-in can. Read more
I've purchased two of these about 3.5 years ago. It's been great except for the fact that within the last 6 months, on BOTH of them, the plastic component that attaches the lid to the can has snapped. The step/lid is totally unusable so I had to remove the lid. I'd expect this from a cheaper trash can but was surprised to see it already from one this expensive ($233 at the time). These replacement parts are not available on their website. Would highly recommend finding another brand if you need a durable or "commercial grade" product. Read more

I bought this product because my dog has been able to nose his way into every other trash can I have tried. But this one has outsmarted my pup. The lid is just heavy enough and secures to the can well enough that he cannot nudge it off of the can itself. He has also not yet been able to figure out how to activate the motion sensor. I haven't had to pick up strewn trash from around my kitchen since I started using this trashcan. It was a little more expensive than I wanted to spend initially, but the convenience it has offered has made it worth it in the end. Read more
The trash can hinges are an issue. They are very small and will start "unhinging" itself when you press on the pedal. Very annoying, would not buy again. Read more
