I have had two of these dating back to 2017, I think. Positive: Holds up very well. The only reason I bought a second one is because the original one was damaged moving. Super convenient hands-free operation. Negative: Not a 13 gallon trash can. A standard 13 gallon kitchen trash bag will fold into the can as soon as you put anything in it. 13 gallon kitchen trash bags are not long enough for the bottom of the bag to reach the bottom of the trash can. 20 gallon bags work great though!! Having to replace the filter is annoying to me. Read more

UPDATE (6/16/2025): The autolid finally stopped working. I got about 5 years of heavy usage out of it, as this was in my kitchen. I was pleased it worked that long with all things considered. Great trashcan, features and functions work great. I replaced it with the exact same model and it arrived yesterday. Two things I did notice, 1. The sensor is not as strong or does not have the same distance to trigger it (not a deal breaker), and 2. The motor sound/speed to open/close sounds weaker and is slower than the previous one. I am hoping it is better tech and that is why. This trashcan is not ment for a 13 gallon bag, it can use a much larger one. However, my two points below still stand and the spray foam has worked awesome to fill that void at the bottom to use a standard 13 gallon trashbag. Heres to hopping I get another 5 years or longer with this one. (2019) The trash can is great, the automatic sensor works great. I just have 2 recommendations to make it better. 1. As other reviews have stated the can is too tall, 13 gallon bags fall through when getting heavy or too full. So one of the other reviews had a great, simple fix. Take a empty trash bag, place it at the bottom, get about 3 cans of spray foam and fill it in the bag. Tie it off, then get another bag and place the foam bag in that, it will allow you to change that bag in the event you have a leaky trash bag. It takes a few days for the foam to dry and set but in the meantime you can place a trash bag in the can and use, this will help form the foam. Problem fixed the trash bag will never fall through again. 2. Buy the power adapter if you are placing it near an outlet. Read more

I have had a horribly difficult time finding a kitchen trash can that fits in a small space, is still large enough for typical trash from cooking, and one that my dog cannot get into. This is my 4th garbage can in 10 months. I have finally found the perfect one! It’s nice and tall and has a compact circumference so it fits in small spaces, yet is large enough to fit most things being thrown away. It is sturdy enough that my dog can’t knock it over and the white finish is very sleek and much easier to clean than the stainless steel cans that are common. The motion sensor is spot on and the charcoal filter is a nice extra. My absolute favorite part of it is how the bags are held in. The inner ring pulls out to wrap the top of the bag over, as many other cans have, but unlike most other cans I’ve tried, there is actually enough of a lip where the ring sits that the bag top is completely concealed. I don’t have the problem where a little of the plastic bag here and there starts to come through and show, which I have had on every other can I’ve tried. This can is amazing and I can’t recommend it enough!! Read more

It's very early to do a review so I will update as time passes, but my initial reaction is WOW! Myself and my family just love this! No more smelly, frustrating waste basket! This can is attractive, as far as trashcans go. Lol. It completely controls waste odor and it holds a lot! My Hefty, tall kitchen trash bags are full when the bag is changed. The bag is fully enclosed within the can and is easy to change..taking less than a minute to remove the full bag and replace with a new one. The lid opens as expected. We do get some unnecessary opening, as it's near the door. I may change its location. The only downside is that it does show fingerprints prominently so it does need an occasional wipe down, but we have to touch so infrequently that this is not a problem. Our house doesn't have a lot of outlets, so we use the battery powered option. It's only been a couple of weeks, so I can't yet say how long the batteries last with ordinary use. I feel this is a much more sanitary option for my family and more convenient. I'm very happy, so far, with the performance of this product. It will start to close, every now and then, while I'm still discarding something, but will pop back up right away and is only a gentle tap..no need for concern. Totally safe for use with children and pets. One of my dogs was a former trash can invader who would periodically over turn & raid the trash can. 1 swat on the snout from the lid on this one has left her puzzled & discontented! Yeah!! We love this so much, I'm really crossing my fingers that it continues to work as well as it does now! My family is spoiled already and I have gladly said farewell to the old can! UPDATE: It's been more than a year since I purchased this item and I do not regret it at all. We did have a problem with the lid tearing up after a month and it took me another month to call as the customer service support line does close at 5 M-F & there's no evening or weekend staff however, I you can file a claim online so it's important to register your product. I had not done so, but the agent was wonderful. She emailed a site link and I registered. It was a very simple process. I wasn't made to wait. The agent simply checked with Amazon and verified my purchase and immediately shipped a new lid at no cost to me. We weren't even asked to return the old one! I was really impressed. The new lid has worked well, for the most part. It is quick to close but it does stop and reopen if need be. My only complaint is that the inside of the back piece that holds the batteries gets dirty so easily and potato peels or other debri can stick there. We don't have a garbage disposal so plates getting emptied and so forth leaves a mess that very quickly becomes unsightly so that requires frequent cleaning and with the little grooves at the top, it's not the easiest thing job either. I found that the easiest way is to press the open button so it stays open and then spray the area with vinegar & water and let it sit a couple of minutes. Then I wipe with a paper towel and usually repeat. I have replaced the batteries 3 times since we bought it, but I anticipate another couple of months use before needing to be replaced again. Ours gets frequent use, I might add. I would suggest buying the adapter if you have adequate outlets. Its kind of a pain if your batteries decide to quit suddenly and you discover that your hubby robbed your battery stash for the flashlight! 😏 All in all we're very pleased with our purchase and plan to order a small one for the bathroom! Guests are always asking about it and I feel it helps keep things sanitary in the kitchen. Read more
