Great Product - use with Outdoor Hands Poison Ivy Scrub

Mark J. MillerJuly 18, 2017

When it comes to removing poison ivy oil and avoiding the rash, this soap works best for me --and I've tried a lot of them (none of them are perfect). Fels-Naptha is also very good, but made for laundry and harsher on the skin. Soap and diligently scrubbing all over with Ivy-dry for the next three showers usually takes care of my exposure. Contrary to some comments told to me, I use the same bar for multiple exposures until that bar is completely used. I usually use the soap for three to four showers following any exposure. Water at lukewarm or ambient when showering (as opposed to a hot shower) has proven best for me when washing for poison ivy. After several days from the date of exposure, if a bad rash occurs anyway and is accompanied by a lot of itching, spraying for a minute or more the specific area affected with water as hot as I can get without scalding or burning eliminates the itch for about 8 or so hours and slightly facilitates the healing. I particularly like that Ivy-dry is sold in three separate bars as it minimizes the soap melting away from being in the shower soap tray, which some of the other bars do quite rapidly. For the more difficult spots or rash that show up a few days later from exposure that were not removed by the soap, I use Outdoor Hands Poison Ivy Scrub. It is an outstanding scrub that completely removes the oil or dramatically lessens the rash (It is impractical and would be more costly to use the scrub all over for several showers instead of the soap, or I would.). I highly recommend using the two products in combination with each other. Outdoor Hands is in the process of upgrading their formulation with a more biodegradable component (a natural wax) for the ingredient that provides the important scrub aspect. The new version is expected to be available fall 2017. While these products are the ones that I have found necessary to buy even though they are not fully organic, neither Ivy-dry nor Outdoor Hands rely on mineral oil, which is a petroleum product and something I do not want on my skin (or on my food cutting board for that matter, food grade or not). To understand the importance of the scrubbing, definitely see the video on "How to never have a serious poison ivy rash again" at mercola dot com. The video is part of Mercola's July 8, 2017 article, "Best Home Remedies for Poison Ivy". Read more

Ivy-dry Soap Works Like Magic!

Amy EOctober 6, 2023

Ivy-dry Soap has become my go-to solution for tackling the itchy aftermath of encounters with poison ivy, oak, and sumac. These 3 bars of soap (0.7 oz each) are nothing short of miraculous. Instant Relief (5/5): Ivy-dry Soap delivers instant relief from the maddening itch caused by poison ivy, oak, or sumac. It's like a soothing balm for irritated skin. Effective Cleansing (5/5): Not only does this soap relieve itching, but it also cleanses the affected area thoroughly. It removes the irritating oils that cause the rash, helping to prevent further spread. Compact and Portable (5/5): The size of these bars is perfect for on-the-go use. I keep one in my hiking backpack and another in my first-aid kit. They're a lifesaver when you're out in the wilderness. Gentle on Skin (5/5): Despite its effectiveness, Ivy-dry Soap is surprisingly gentle on the skin. It doesn't leave my skin feeling dry or irritated like some other harsh soaps. Multipack Convenience (5/5): Having three bars of soap in one pack ensures I'm always prepared for unexpected encounters with poison ivy, oak, or sumac. In summary, Ivy-dry Soap is a must-have for anyone who enjoys outdoor adventures or has a tendency to come into contact with these pesky plants. It's a 5-star solution that provides instant relief and peace of mind. Don't leave home without it! Read more

Must have for anyone who gets poison ivy (bars have small bumps so they give you the scratch release as your scrub)

Brian PolizzanoMay 8, 2017

I get poison ivy very easily every year and have never found something to help get rid of it so fast. Ive tried using dish soap to help remove the oils, i used the Calamine lotion to try and dry it out but nothing works as fast as this soap does. I noticed reduced inflammation within an hour or two. The bars are fairly small which isn't bad because they're one use only. I had it really bad on my legs so I just snapped the bar in half and used the the bar in two separate showers. The bars also have small bumps on them which allow for a scratching effect as your scrub (which is nice since you cant scratch it because it will usually spread). Read more

Pretty good

I had such a case of poison ivy that there was nothing that really helped but this did some good drying it out. I think if I had tried it earlier, it would have helped more. I have a box full of remedies now but I also threw in a doctor's office visit for a steroid shot and a round of meds. No fun at all! I hear Zanfel is the thing that works best and I will have some on hand for the next time I AM SO STUPID! Read more

AMAZING AMAZING product!!!

MoSeptember 13, 2020

This product is awesome! I came on Amazon looking for a product for poison ivy relief for my husband. He's very sensitive and breaks out from it often. If he looks at it too hard he breaks out lol. This product cleared up his rash in the matter of a few days. This product dries out the rash and blisters without drying out the unaffected skin. It also helps calm the itching and burning. This past weekend my mother called me with a really bad poison oak rash that covered her arms in large boils. Thankfully I had a couple bars on hand and was able to give her a few. After a day of using this the boils begun to drain. The swelling went down and the itching/burning went away. This ultimately saved her from a trip to the ER which was her step if it didnt clear. I would def reccomend everyone keep a few of these bars on hand! We'll never go without them! Read more
