Living in the icy north, I’ve accumulated a decent little collection of beanies, and this one immediately earned a spot at the top of the pile. It’s 100% merino wool, "knitted in Norway," and you can feel the quality as soon as you put it on. The material has a tighter, sturdier weave than the fluffy merino you sometimes see that falls apart after a wash. This feels almost like cotton in texture, but the warmth leaves no doubt it’s wool. The fit is excellent. A lot of beanies end up oversized or sloppy, but this one sits just right, not too tight, not too loose, and it stretches enough to fit comfortably without squeezing. The soft brushed lining inside adds an extra level of comfort and warmth, which I know I’ll appreciate once the temps drop. I’ll admit I was initially disappointed to see “Made in Sri Lanka” on the tag, since it says knitted in Norway, which I also assumed was fully made in Norway, but realistically, not much is manufactured in Norway these days. Still, the design and material choice clearly reflect that Nordic pedigree. Even though it’s still too warm out to need it daily, I’ve already worn it on a few cooler mornings and while walking the dog. It covers the ears well, feels lightweight rather than bulky, and I can see myself wearing it constantly come winter for hiking, skiing, or just day-to-day use. I haven’t had a good chance to test this out in cold weather yet, but I will. It’s pretty “puffy” with a bigger weave. The size fits my head good and isn’t too tight or loose. I’m not positive if it’s 100% Merino, it feels more like a blend. I’m not saying it isn’t, the manufacturer say the it is, I’m relaying what it feels like to me compared to other Merino I have. What you see is what you get, with this comfy wool beanie. To date, this is the only wool hat I have ever found that I can wear on my big head that is not itchy! The wool offers a lot of stretch, and it quickly bounces back to shape, so I know that if it's missing I'll probably be able to find it on my wife's head. I have worn it, passed it to my son, and he tried it on as well. It will comfortably fit all of the heads in my household. The wool itself, combined with the style of knit-stitching, truly allows this hat to be an honest "one size fits all" piece of headwear. The color is consistent, the wool is warm, and the knit-stitching style adds to the material's ability to keep head heat in, while still allowing for adequate air circulation - thus minimizing sweating in cold weather conditions. I found the hat to be so nice that I wouldn't consider giving it away as a gift, however having a spare one around would be a great "one size fits all" solution for an emergency gift-giving situation. If it helps, this hat should easily fit head sizes from those you'd find on kids as young as maybe 10 years old on up! Love this beanie. Genuinely feels like the highest quality beanie I have. I'm a big fan of merino wool so I was excited to get this one and it should be great for camping, but also just nice for regular use too. It feels soft and cozy, I have no bad seams or loose strings or anything like that and it's a great level of thickness where it's not too thin that it's useless as a beanie, and not too thick where it's stiff and annoying to wear. This wool hat is a deep black and had large cords in its weave. The wool is soft and keeps my head very warm. The hat does breathe a little and won't completely block heavy wind. I like the quality of the fabric and the stitching seems tight and clean. It functions well in humid conditions retaining a lot of its heat trapping properties even when damp. Read more
