my 2 cents—December 24, 2025
Another phenomenal product from JBL. I purchased two of these Encore Essential 2's and play them in stereo pair. I had debated whether or not to purchase the new Boombox 4, but decided on these Party Box Encore Essential 2's as they were a much better value for the price and more capable with larger, ported woofer size (vs. sealed radiators with the BB4). They offer rich, balanced sound. The bass is where the Party Box speakers shine, with the Essential 2's offering deep relaxed bass even at low volumes with the option for normal, deep or punchy bass settings. The biggest plus is that I can separate the two speakers for a wide sound stage and let me tell you, for this reason alone it does not disappoint. Talk about lifelike sound! I purchased two Party Box 320's last year and while they do sound amazing, they are a pain to lug around for the size and weight. I wanted something more portable and these Encore Essential 2's fit the bill without sacrificing much capability. These little Essential 2's are very portable and light only weighing approx 10 lbs each and and yet they still offer very capable sound. I am not disappointed. While the battery is not as easy to replace as the proper Encore 2, the Encore Essential 2 does have an internal battery that can be replaced with a little time and patience and I think the replacement batteries are much cheaper than the cartridge style batteries that many of the JBL products now offer. The only downside I'd like to point out is that the volume control is not very granular, as in the steps between lower volume notches are too steep. Not a deal breaker, but maybe an improvement for future models. If you are interested in getting an idea of how well these speakers perform, find a decent pair of IEM's and check YouTube for reviews. That's actually how I deliberated my purchase decision. Overall I am very satisfied and a JBL fan for life! Read more

The JBL PartyBox Encore Essential 2 is amazing! The sound quality is crystal clear with deep, powerful bass that fills the room, perfect for any party or gathering. It’s super easy to connect via Bluetooth, and the portability makes it convenient to take anywhere. The lights add a fun vibe, and the battery life lasts for hours. Definitely worth it if you love great music and a lively atmosphere. JBL never disappoints! Read more

I have a JBL 320 and it's amazing. However, I wanted a smaller and more portable speaker. With that said, the JBL Encore Essential 2 definitely fills that role. At first I was worried if it would be loud enough and debated if I should've gotten the JBL 120 from Costco; but after receiving the Encore Essential 2 and testing it out, I'm so glad I kept it. It's more than loud enough for a living room / back yard, the sound quality is great and there is still a good amount of bass, and lastly, it's SO easy to carry around. It's missing a lot of physical buttons/knobs, but you can connect to it via app and adjust any settings you need (equalizer and microphone settings). It doesn't have a removable battery, but its 15 hour battery life is more than enough. I have the JBL microphones and use this speaker for karaoke all the time Read more

It’s awesome sounds really good with the Bluetooth. The aux sounds a tiny bit better but still really good for Bluetooth especially with the app. It hits like a 12in sub really good build quality! Read more

Absolutely blown away at the performance of this speaker. Bluetooth speakers typically sacrifice sound quality for portability; that is not the case with this speaker. Sound is super rich, vibrant, crisp, clear and the bass it produces is just mind blowing. With the speaker positioned towards the middle of a room, the bass is good, but when you put it in the corner of a room and then sit in the adjacent corner of the room, the bass is MASSIVE. It sounds like a car sound system with two 12 inch subwoofers in the back. I have always been a lover of bass and that is one of the most important aspects of any sound system for me. That being said, this speaker fully satisfies my bass craving, 100%. In doors i typically listen to the speaker at 25-50% volume, its so loud that I don't need to go higher. I would never buy any other partybox after listening to this thing. If this speaker isn't loud enough for your use of it, buy another one for stereo effect. Seriously, if you're thinking of getting the 120, 320, 520, 720, don't. Get 2 or 3 of these. Trust me. Read more

I listened to this speaker for about 20 minutes. I turned the volume up 25%. The mids/highs sound nice and crisp. The lows sound good for its size. I had a problem with the bass boost button, it would not work consistently. If I pressed it firmly, it would change the bass and the light behind the button would become light/dim or off depending on how many times I pressed it. But if I pressed it normal, it would do nothing however it did click no matter if I pressed it firm or light. I currently own a PartyBox 310, 320, 520 and the bass button works with a firm or light press but not the Essential 2. I returned it. Read more
