Love this yoga mat! Bought it in black three years ago; it has served me well for doing yoga/pilates/workouts at home. Things I like about this mat in particular: it is longer than a standard yoga mat, so you don't have to feel like your feet or head are falling off the edge if that bothers you on standard size mats. It is also the perfect Goldilocks thickness in my opinion: thick enough to be comfortable and supportive of your joints such as elbows and knees during certain poses, but it's not so thick that you would sink or lose your balance. Durability: I'm replacing it after three years due to unintentional damage on my part - I stored it right next to a radiator pipe (my mistake) and the mat warped and no longer lays flat. If you store your mat in a normal location and not exposed to excessive heat, I'm sure it would last many more years. It is also reasonably resistant to your pet's nails. My dogs like the comfort of the yoga mat too, and while their nails have left some scratches, it has only ever been minor cosmetic damage and never any rips or tears. I looked at other options for "upgrading" my yoga mat, but ultimately settled on getting the same kind as before as it is truly a great mat! The new one arrived and the quality is just as good as the original. Got it in the wine color this time; color seems true to how it looked on the screen. As a bonus, the mat also comes with a strap to keep it rolled up when not in use (it also did in the original I bought several years back; I was happy they still give you a strap). I would definitely recommend this JELS yoga mat if you want a mat that is comfortable, functional, and long-lasting! Read more
I love this mat. I bought the black 10mm thick one. I was worried I wouldn’t like it because I’m very picky. I wanted something thick and comfortable because i do yoga in my backyard on solid concrete. I thought the thickness might keep me from doing poses correctly, but it’s thick but not too cushiony. It’s a hard cushiony, which works better for yoga. I was also worried about hand and feet grip while doing poses because I suffer from hyperhydrosis, which means my hands and feet are almost always dripping sweat. I didn’t slip on my last yoga mat, but the texture of it also hurt the heck out of my hands and feet. I wanted something more comfy but I didn’t want to slide all over the place either. I’m amazed that I haven’t slipped once, it is actually grippy while I’m sweating and it doesn’t hurt my hands and feet! That’s a lot for me, I always thought I would have to sacrifice one or the other. And it feels wide and long enough for me. I’m really enjoying doing yoga again. Read more
Update on 2/16/2021 When I originally bought this mat, it was a single layer mat, unlike the current two-layer version. I recently purchased a second mat which is of the two-layer type. In contrast with my original purchase the new mat is a bit stiffer, firmer, and seems a tiny bit thinner. I've had it about a week and it still has a curled edge from shipping, whereas my original mat lay flat after a day or two. Like my first mat, it doesn't have any smell and the grip on the top and the bottom is the same. It's still a very nice mat, but I prefer the first one I bought (which my daughter took). Original review: The mat doesn't have any smell and the textured surface really is non-slip. It's heavier and stiffer than a foam mat which makes it more difficult to roll up, but also easier to lay it flat--I just "sort of" roll it up enough to stand it in a corner. I'm much more stable when I need to balance despite using it atop a carpeted floor. While it still moves around when doing jumping jacks, burpees, and the like, it doesn't slide around like a foam mat. (in fact I can't kick it back into place) I do wish the mat had a more cushioned feel--I may need to look for an even thicker version TPE mat in the future--but it meets my needs for now. Read more
I need cushion for my knees, and was tired of fussing with knee pads, so wanted thick, but dense mat, so I would get cushion without sacrificing stability for balance poses, like tree. This mat is perfect in that respect. Texture is also interesting, I think if I'd broken it in, it would likely have ended up very grippy, too. Only very slight slipping brand new, anyway, and almost a little harsh feel on palms, but i really think that would have broken in to yield more grip. Also, this seems more durable than most any other yoga or exercise mat I've ever seen - really nice quality materials! However, I'm kind of long, and have a tendency to step on or lay across the edges of the mat in various poses, so the edge may uncomfortably dig in, or the thickness is extreme enough to risk stability if i accidentally stepped on the edge, which i do. So I am returning this, looking for one with 6-8 inches more width. Hope I can find one as nice as this! Read more
Nice thick mat. Beautiful color and long enough for my height. No funky smell. Love the strap it comes with. Read more
Super nice, thick, well made yoga mat. Great length and size. The thickness rids the need for additional pads, very comfortable and stays in place. This is not a carry mat, as it is bulky and does not fit in a yoga bag. It does come with straps, which is nice. Definitely recommend. Read more
