Jiffy Steamer liquid cleaner by Jiffy

My wife told me that the clothes steamer that we have been using in the laundry room would work for about 30 seconds and then quit. I checked it out just to be sure that her observation was correct (she isn't good with any type of technology or machinery) and then pulled out the owner's manual. Seems like Jiffy warned customers that the machine should be cleaned every six months or the hose or reservoir could close up -- independent of whether you use distilled water or not. The manual also recommended that the consumer buy a package of Jiffy Steamer Liquid Cleaner, follow the instructions as written, and then rinse out the unit before using. Guess What? The cleaning process worked perfectly and I'm not on the hook to buy another nice clothes steamer. Most malfunctioning machinery or technology has a simple fix available. I have always believed in the principle of Occam's Razor: In problem solving the simplest solution tends to be the correct solution. I have a Jiffy steamer that is at least 35 years old. It finally died on me - so I ordered a new one. I love this steamer! Reading the manual on the new steamer I saw I should have been using a cleaner on it every 6 months or so. On a whim I ordered the cleaner and tried it on my old steamer. Lo & Behold - my OLD steamer is working like new! I should have tried it first before ordering the new one - oh well, I'll pass it along to a daughter. The product is great! Read more

I've used this product before and it seems to clean as it should, as I expected. I think it is a bit pricey but no more than I use it (maybe twice a year) it is not bad. I leave the cleaner in my garment steamer overnight. Just follow the instructions on the bottle for the model you own and you should have no trouble. The store/seller shipped it out quickly. My Jiffy Steamer stopped making steam after 10+ years of good work without any cleaning, seems like inside was totally clogged with mineral buildup. This product worked perfectly as it was intended, I tried 50/50 water/vinegar - didn't work, I even tried 100% vinegar overnight - didn't work.
