This sharpener exceeds my expectations. My last sharpener - honing tool, really - was a Wusthof and lasted probably 7-8 years. It was rather expensive at the time I bought it, but hey - look at the brand name. It took up a lot of space in my drawer, helped somewhat to keep my knives honed between sharpenings, and finally fell apart one day while I was using it. I'd looked for a replacement in upscale kitchen equipment stores, but hadn't found anything. So when I saw this one, I thought 'why not'. I'm delighted! When it arrived in the mail and I felt it for the first time, I thought 'nothing this light will work'. But I'm a believer! The sharpening wheels are ceramic, so they won't rust out like the Wusthof. The sharpening process actually sharpened my knives. And I love the way the tool folds up to conserve valuable drawer space.
