This fruit picker provide sufficient reach for harvesting apples, oranges, pears and other tree fruits with low cost. The installation to a wooden pole is very simple. The foam-cushioned basket helps protect the fruit during picking. However, due to its relatively wide gaps in the grill, smaller fruits can occasionally slip out. A denser basket or grill would improve retention and make it more reliable. In general, it’s a useful tool for reaching high fruits, though the basket design could be slightly improved for better security. Read more

We bought this apple picker to gather apples from a nearby park so we could can them, and it worked perfectly. It’s lightweight but sturdy, and the pole extends far enough to reach the high branches without feeling wobbly. The basket holds the apples securely, so they don’t fall or bruise while picking. What I loved most is how easy it was to use—no ladders, no shaking branches, just simple, clean apple picking. We were able to collect a ton of apples in no time, and the whole process was actually fun. If you’re looking for a dependable tool for harvesting apples or other fruit, this apple picker is a fantastic choice. It made our canning project so much smoother, and we’ll definitely be using it every season! Read more

This was a bit rickety, but did the trick to pick the pears from my tree. The claws at the top grab the fruit and it drops into a basket with some foam to protect the fruit. It is 2 parts and held together by the clamps that hold it to the pole you use. It was easy to setup and does the job. Read more

We planted a young orchard a few years ago, and this was the first season our trees grew tall enough that harvesting required a ladder. When I saw this fruit picker basket head, I was immediately intrigued as a way to make apple and pear picking easier and safer. The design is straightforward: two metal halves form the basket with curved tines at the top for pulling fruit free, and a foam pad at the base to catch the fruit as it drops in. The foam should reduce bruising, though more padding all the way around would make it even better. The tines are effective for hooking fruit, but they are sharp enough that care will be needed to avoid damaging the skins—rubber caps or a coating of glue could be an easy fix. Assembly is simple, though the two halves don’t align perfectly flush. The included clamp is meant to secure the picker to a pole, but fit can be fussy—it doesn’t snug well onto very small or very large handles. A piece of metal conduit, broomstick, or better yet, a telescoping pole should work fine, though it does add to the cost. Personally, I would have preferred a bundled kit that included the pole. The basket itself is lightweight, and while the metal is not as thick as some premium models, it seems adequate for backyard use. For anyone with fruit trees just out of reach, this is a practical, inexpensive tool that will save time and trips up the ladder. With a few minor tweaks, it could be excellent, but even as it is, it should make next year’s harvest much easier. Read more

This a great idea. I think there are several things that could be improved on it though. It really needs padding all the way around so the apples aren't bruised. The padding at the bottom is nice. The bent over metal spikes at the top that actually pick the apple are sharp and also tend to damage apples. Round rubber tips on the ends would help that a lot. I think I might put hot glue over the ends and see if that helps. It is designed to be able to fit to any sized pole or handle. It doesn't fit smaller handles well - but it also doesn't fit larger handles very well. It really requires a very exact size to fit perfectly. I like the concept and with a few tweaks it is great. I debated between three and four stars and finally settled on four because it *does* work and I *will* use it. Read more

At first, assembling this unit, I wasn’t impressed by the quality. The metal rods are pretty thin, and the 2 halves don’t fit together well. The included straps are a little small to fit around the bottom of the unit - and especially when you are trying to attach the picker to a thicker pole. After I did get it assembled, I was pretty happy with how well it works. Every year, I’ve had problems reaching the higher fruit on my apple and pear trees - but not any more! Works easily with a sturdy, stable pole (and mine is adjustable). Read more

I put this together and it worked well to pick fruit I couldn't reach within arms length. It came completely disassembled. I did have to put a screw into the handle piece, but you adapt for what you need to get done. That is life. If you are looking for a fruit picker, this is a nice one. Read more

A fruit picker is a must if you have large fruit trees. This one is not as nice as others i have, the metal is much thinner and the top halves are a little harder to keep together during assembly. It does come with a clamp to attach to a pole. I had to put 2 small screws into the pole to hard it solid.the base to the pole is a little larger than 1 inch to you will need some type of backer to make it fit or a larger thickness. Read more
