These are compact when folded and lightweight to carry, but they're quite sturdy when deployed. I have a rather heavy 17.3 inch mobile workstation for engineering and simulation work, and this stand holds it solidly and without slipping around on the work surface. I originally bought this to improve cooling, because my applications run the machine pretty heavily, but the angle improves my wrist ergonomics as well as raising the laptop's screen to a more comfortable viewing angle. I work from two desks (plus sometimes being mobile) and came back to order an additional unit of these so I can move the laptop between the two desks more quickly, but when I travel one of them will be folded and added to my computer bag. I've used many versions of these laptop riser stands over the years. This design is the holy grail for portability: (1) folds to an extremely small size, (2) Soft edges & rubber-padded surfaces eliminate the need for a pouch. Just fold & throw into your bag (3) the riser mechanism magnetically snaps into position instead of you having to precisely insert a floppy arm into a groove. I have replaced all the bare metal ones I had (I kept one in each location because I did not like the experience of storing & setting them up every time I change locations) with just one of these. I was looking for a simple laptop stand, but the issue I ran into is that I have a Legion 5 gaming laptop. Gaming laptops are large, chunky and heavy. Well, I'm glad to see that this one can easily hold up my laptop! The build quality seems middle of road, nothing special. If anything it does feel quite cheap, but it does work.
