I turn the reeds over every week to keep the diffuser working at peak efficiency. It's nice that there's no electricity needed and that the fragrance escapes slowly and naturally rather than being forced out. It's hard to know exactly how pure the essence is, although the company states that they use only the best. Love the scent! I have ordered several diffusers from other companies and have always been disappointed, ended up throwing them away because they smelled so artificial. Not this one, very clean. Juniper and Lavender are my most favorite scents and I was so happy to find them together. Getting ready to order another one right now! BEWARE! VERY DIFFICULT TO OPEN. I almost impaled my hand several times trying to open the cap. I used several instruments: my nails, scissors, pizza cutter, screwdriver, bottle opener and my teeth to pry off the plastic cap. The outer purple ring which surrounded the plastic cap was also difficult to screw off. I had to bang on the sides of it several times with a bottle opener to loosen it enough to screw off.
