I was surprised when I opened the box to find a clock that was not only attractive, but looked very expensive. I bought it to fit on a table in my living room. I didn't want anything digital or bulky. I have had many compliments on its antique appearance. It keeps excellent time and I am purchasing one for my guest bedroom. Bigger than described, truly silent, very reflective screen

I bought this to replace a small analog clock I've had on my desk for many years and which I really loved and which died. I wanted something that was easy to read at a glance as my old one was that this one sort of works. First, in summer it's a very nice clock for the money. Pros (for me): 1) This one is indeed completely silent, which is great. Many clocks, whether or not they have second hands, use a quartz mechanism that clicks every second, usually pretty quietly, which I don't like. 2) The second hand moves continuously, not every second. This is much less distracting than the every second jump and of course the way electric clocks all worked before they went to quartz battery systems. 3) IMPORTANT: This clock was described (I think) as having a 4 inch face and it's larger than I thought. When I measure just the face it's about 4 1/3 ", but it seems larger. I like the size. Cons (for me) 1) I wish the second hand were a little more delicate and thus easier to ignore. 2) While the pale sort-of-ivory maps pattern on the face isn't unattractive it requires just a bit more time to check the time as it's slightly distracting. 3) It uses Arabic numbers for the hours and they are out of proportion it seems to me for the size of the face. 4) The clock is designed to that it sits tilted slightly backward, and the shiny front plastic face reflects light too easily. Overall: If you like the look of the clock online, you're going to like it in person. However, I think I will keep looking because I find that whereas with my old, more plain clock, I could tell the time just by glancing at it, with this clock I have to actually *notice* the time. It's hard to describe, and perhaps I'll just get used to it, but I feel as though I have to filter out the visual distractions. Still it seems like a well-made device for the money. My old clock lasted for almost 20 years until the quartz mechanism died, so we'll see with this on. Read more

It is a nice looking clock as other reviewers mention. The colors and style make it look more expensive than it is and it has a nice vintage vibe. Unfortunately mine just out right died after about 2 weeks. Tried a couple of new batteries and made sure battery connection was making contact. As you know most clocks at this price point have similar or same mechanisms which are cheap but usually effective. I am returning for replacement since I like the style and will hope my next one will have a mechanism that will last. Read more
