I like the pouch that comes with it. I mainly use it to smooth flowing water. It is dark enough to allow bigger aperture settings and still get the right speed for water. My first K&F filter. I would recommend this product. Read more
The filter is excellent, but the case/packaging is a complete disaster. K&F should have just used a metal can or a plastic hard case with padding and saved 20% of the cost of the product. My filter came CRUSHED. Surprisingly the filter itself was undamaged. The massive 150x150x30mm cardboard package and 100x100mm leatherette case with a MAGNET closure was just enough to prevent damage to the filter. Magnets are a bad idea! Don't want those anywhere near my wallet/credit cards. The orange pull-tab on the box is easily broken off rendering the box a challenge to open. The case that comes with the Nano-X filters would have been fine; round, screw together, with a bit of padding similar to Gobe cases. Unfortunately, K&F oversizes those cases too; too cheap to spend the money on case sizes that MATCH the filter size. Filters screws on easily. Read more
It feels like a nice filter and looks of good quality, but there is a definite warm color cast present, which is disappointing considering its price point and how it's advertised. I don't notice any decrease in sharpness, and the color cast is mostly fixable, but it is certainly not without color shift. I hope to use it more and maybe find some uses for it, but the result I got with it is discouraging. As of now, I would not recommend this, at least at this price. Read more
I ordered this to add to my filter stack, as I didn't have a large ND1000 filter; I'm familiar with the K&F brand from other filters I've purchased as well as ones from Vine, and they've never failed to impress me with their quality. This one is their professional-grade one, so it might be a little more than an amateur needs, but I look at filters as a long-term investment since they can be used on any lens if you have the right step-up/step-down adaptors (though it IS best to stick to something close to your lenses' filter sizes to avoid reflections or vignetting). The results I get with this filter are truly travel-mag worthy, perfect for tourism posters and large-scale art prints; waterfalls and streams flow beautifully, lakes appear like smooth satin even with some waves, clouds go perfectly streaky to give the sense of time passing, and it's possible to use a tripod and get photos of heavily-visited places during open hours without a lot of people in the finished shot. It's truly outstanding, even with my previous knowledge of the brand and the high expectations those experiences had generated! Read more
KnF’s quality has really been top-notch. This is a beautifully optically clear massive 10 stop neutral density filter. This is as dark as it gets from what I know and it is perfect for taking long exposures during the day to capture lightning strikes or to get beautiful city scapes in the evening. This thing is is optically perfect as any of the expensive German filters I own. The coating keeps moisture from beating on the front if you’re shooting in the rain, and they’re supposedly scratch resistant but I hope never to try that out. I own several of this company‘s filters now and I’ve been extraordinarily pleased with all of them. The build quality is as good as my German ones and you can tell how well they’re made by the eaves at which the filters thread onto the lens. Absolutely beautiful. And they come with high-quality cases as well. The only thing this company can do better would be to go back in time when I was spending 300 bucks per filter and offer their goods back then. Over the past year or so, I’ve tried maybe a half dozen K&F filters uniformly finding them to be among the best I’ve ever experienced. This high density ND 1000 has met my expectations of excellence that this brand has now established with me. There’s little to say other than it’s thinner than other filters of any sort meaning it has less of a chance of creating unwanted refractions once mounted. Like all filters, it must be used alone. If added to an existing UV or clear filter many used as a lens protector, the two can and likely will work to degrade image quality. This refraction issue is a good reason not to mount the UV or clear filters as a lens protector. A lens shade works almost as well as a protector but won’t interfere with a filter. In use, this ND 1000 does filter to 10 stops (eyeball estimate) without affecting the color or introducing other unwanted effects. Like so many things photographic, the good stuff costs but also performs. Read more
The ND1000 is very dark and of limited use so you must decide if you really need it. If you do, then K&F Concept gives good value for the money. Nice performance and nice presentation. Recommended. Read more
