This tastes as it should for the grade. I get spoiled using the richer ceremonial grade matcha, but this will certainly make a good tasting latte. The ground is sufficient, however, I still use a sieve to make a finer powder for mixing in my bowl with a bit of water and then adding to hot milk, honey and vanilla. Excellent mild pick me up around brunch time. The sample won't go far for me, but it is a good way to test before making a commitment to the larger bag. It is satisfactory and a decent value for the cost. Read more

This is a nice, organic matcha with a smooth nutty taste and no bitter aftertaste. It’s a quality powder with no sugar added, so if you’re using it for a latte, you’ll have to add your own sweetener to taste. Depending on size and preference, an average matcha latte takes 2-4 grams of powder, so the sample packet will make 2.5-5 drinks, and the 100 gram size would make 25-50. It’s not bad for the price, considering the quality. The packet is sealed well but comes with no instructions. It does have a website/QR code on it that takes you to a suspect landing page (with no main website) that prompts you to give your email for a discount code for your next order. I won’t be going that route but would order from Amazon again as need dictates. Read more

I love sprinkling green tea powder (matcha) on vanilla ice cream to make green tea ice cream. It tastes so good this way :) This green tea is really good! The color is a slight yellow-green (like the ones from the Japanese grocery stores), and it has a lot of flavor. I sprinkled it on the top, took a picture and mixed it in (the bowl looks messy after I mix so I took the picture before mixing). I’m surprised but this is one of the better green teas I’ve tried :) Read more

I got this for my daughter who works at Starbucks to try for making matcha lattes at home, and for me to try since my favorite local matcha company went out of business. My daughter said this powder behaved like the powder she uses at Starbucks in terms of blending which means that it is a little difficult to blend and usually ends up leaving a bit at the bottom of the cup. So, no better blending ability than other matcha powders we have tried. As for flavor, I felt it tasted a little grassier than I am used to for matcha, my daughter said it tasted pretty standard to her though I noticed she had to add more sweetener to it than we were both expecting her to need to to make it taste okay for her, but I also felt it tasted a little less strong matcha like than I was expecting. So, for flavor I guess its okay, a little mild yet a little grassy. As far as value, it seems to be comparably priced to other matcha powders when you look at pricing on the 100 gram bag (of course pricing is going to be expensive on the sample sized bag) so this is a normal value if you were to buy the 100 gram bag. Overall this matcha is nothing out of the ordinary and we both have had matchas that we like better so we won't be buying this one again, three stars for "okay". Read more

I received a 10 gm sample bag with an expiration date of 12/2024 and I have to say it was wonderful - intense aroma and flavor that made me recall a favorite "popcorn tea" I used to drink back in the day. I also added it to a cookie recipe and the flavor was much more intense than when I made the cookies with matcha from a health food store - so much so that I'm going to have to reduce the amount in the recipe. I look forward to trying the full 100 gm (3.5 oz) package. BTW, for some reason the Amazon price calculator is showing the unit price of the 100 gm package as $76.52/oz, but $26.99/3.5 = $7.71/oz, which is at the lower end of the four and five star cooking matchas I skimmed. This matcha powder isn't as bold as others I've tried. Even doubling the scoops I'd normally use doesn't seem to match the strength of others. This isn't a bad thing per se, but I could get a lot more product for cheaper with others. So far I've only tried it in latte format, but I'll update if my perspective changes once I've had the chance to try it in coffee and on ice cream. It's not bad overall, and you can get a sample size (that's still a bit overpriced for the volume) before committing to a whole bag, but as of now it's not for me. Read more

I have never tasted matcha before trying this cooking matcha. I like green tea so I decided to give it a try. I was warned I probably wouldn't like it and I should start by making a matcha latte. I looked up directions online and the final drink was a warm combination of matcha, 1% milk and a teaspoon of honey. It tasted very much like I expected and I found it to be quite good. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's cup. The powder was extremely fine and sifted through my fine mesh strainer without any lumps or fibers. Read more
