I installed this Kasa bulb in a lamp and it worked almost instantly — setup was easy, no hub needed, and it connected fine to my 2.4 GHz WiFi. The color-changing + dimmable features are great: I can pick from a wide range of hues or set cozy warm-white light, and brightness control is smooth. It plays nicely with voice assistants (Alexa / Google), which makes it convenient if you prefer hands-free control. The light output is bright enough for a medium-sized room (roughly equivalent to a 60W bulb), but when on colored modes it feels more ambient than ideal for focused tasks. Read more

Easy to set up! There are multiple colors available in the app to choose from. I just got mine a couple of days ago so I'll update if needed after I've used it for a little bit. My main reason for buying it was so that I can have a small light at night when I'm out. I have a cat and I'd perfer she not be in the dark when I go out at night (don't judge me🤭). The price was nice and it works as described. Love the fact that I can set a schedule and it works with Alexa! Read more

I picked up these smart light bulbs a few weeks ago, and they’ve already become a go-to in our home. I love how easy they are to set up — no hub needed; they just connect straight to our Wi-Fi and start working right away. What really sold me is how flexible they are. I can change the colors to match my mood, dim the lights for movie time, or brighten things up when I’m trying to focus or get work done. Switching between “cozy evening” warm light and “bright morning” daylight is surprisingly satisfying. They work perfectly with voice control (I use Alexa), which means I don’t have to fumble for a light switch. It’s super handy when my hands are full or I’m already in bed and don’t want to get up. For me, these bulbs are great for everyday living — whether I’m working from home, winding down in the evening, or just relaxing in the living room. They make it easy to create the right atmosphere without any fuss. If you’re thinking about upgrading your lighting and want something flexible, easy to control, and fun to use — these bulbs are a home run. Read more

I have over a dozen of these Kasa smart bulbs in my house, and I've used them for over a year now. Overall, these are a solid and affordable entry-level smart bulb. Installation is a piece of cake. Simply unscrew the old (standard) bulb, and screw the Kasa bulb in its place. Then follow the instructions in the app to configure the bulb with your wi-fi. To be clear about how these work: DO NOT flip the wall switch on and off. Turning the switch off will kill power to the bulb. The wi-fi chip inside the bulb always needs a small amount of power in order to receive the command to turn the light on. When you want to turn the light on from your phone app, or Alexa device, these devices will send a command to the bulb over wi-fi. If the bulb has no power, it cannot receive this command. So LEAVE THE WALL SWITCH ON ALWAYS, and simply use your app or Alexa to control the lights. Of course, you COULD continue to use the wall switch as normal, and the lights will go on and off properly. This is actually quite convenient when guests are unfamiliar with how the bulbs work. However, if you plan to use the wall switch routinely, you lose any smart functionality, and there's no point to buying these bubs. Unfortunately, the bulbs seem to have a flaky wi-fi connection, and the app occasionally loses the ability to communicate with the bulb. Every day or two, I have to flip the wall switch off and then back on to "reboot" the bulb's wi-fi chip. Then you're good for another couple days. In terms of brightness, these are advertised at 800 lumens. I have 5 of them in my dining room chandelier, and it certainly provides more than enough light for eating, and for craft projects on the table. In the living room, the ceiling fan has 4 of these bulbs, and it does seem a little dim at times when reading. I wish the bulbs went up to 1,000 lumens or more. Of the 12+ of these bulbs I own, one went bad within a few months and I had to replace it. The rest continue to work. Overall I give these a B+. Read more

Came ready to use for my alexa but still had to download the tp-link app. Great light and a need for bust family who forgets we dont need to pay Ga power anymore than we already do! Works with a reg lamp. Read more
