Kaytee Clean Cozy White Paper Bedding Made for Small Animals 49 2 Liters

Over a year ago, I started purchasing 2-3 bags a month thru Amazon Subscribe and Save. Generally, the bags are good quality & dust free. However, the previous 2 months were of such poor quality with a dust content so significant, the white bedding was brown… worse was the dust plume & smell. My GP went into sneezing fits, as did I. Initially, I tried mixing with a locally purchased bags. However, the two bags received last month were so bad, I just threw them away & purchased locally. Obviously, bedding is expensive & I had decided to end this subscription. However, with May being a crazy, busy month, I forgot. I was thrilled to discover the 2 bags this month are CLEAN! This is the only brand of white bedding available on Amazon that is soft, absorbent, dye free… & usually dust free… and also a reasonable price. I change my Guinea pig bedding far more than is probably necessary, thus bedding is a huge expense. This product is available in larger size bags at a fairly reasonable price. Given delivery is of high importance for me, I will continue the subscription, re-evaluating on month to month basis. Read more

Out of all the rodent beddings, this should be your go-to for rodents who have short hair and love to dig. I wanted a gerbil at a pet store and I saw this old gerbil that was stuck in a small cage. I took him home and took care of him. He started to trust me and play with us. Later, when I was playing with him, he unfortunately had a stroke or seizure and died. After I while, I got 2 new gerbil and this is the best bedding I can find. It absorbs 3x and is very fluffy. My gerbils love it. I would recommend using this type of bedding! I solely used this bedding the last time I had a hamster. This bedding expands so much when you start to take it out of the bag, so one bag probably contains twice the volume you can visually see before you open it. This bedding is a fairly low dust one in my experience. I would see some dust, but I don’t think I ever heard my hamster coughing or anything from it. I felt safe giving him this bedding. He was also able to fill his igloo with this and make really sturdy homes, I could lift the igloo and his nest would hold its shape. I found the white to be aesthetically pleasing and it also made it a lot easier to spot clean the cage because you can visually see where things are dirty. Hami loves this stuff. No dust or odor. (She can always tell if a material has been chemically treated) —- this stuff is clean and fluffy, absorbent & really soft. I mix several types of bedding. She sleeps in this stuff. We use a coarser bedding for toilet. I put a layer of hay underneath to help keep it fresh. Read more

As someone who's just started raising a hamster again after half a decade of my last one (RIP Yogi, you old fart), I was nervous about buying this bedding as reviews lately have been hit or miss, but hamster owners with experience still recommended this bedding highly so I took the gamble to try to buy it on a good day and got two 50 liter bags (Technically 49.2 but ya know, semantics), since this time I want to give my hamster the best I can get. It came out great, the packaging was secure, the bedding was soft and fluffy after fluffing it up out of the bag, and thankfully no big dust issues have arisen, which is extra great because I am very allergic to dust. I've only sneezed once while setting my new hamster's (I got him almost a week ago as of writing this) cage up but I expected that given the type of bedding this is and it was only when I was trying to unpack it from the bag. My dwarf hamster has been burrowing under it (a good 6 inches of it) constantly and even has a frequent one he goes to in his cage's corner because it holds them better than Carefresh since that brand is denser than this one. Not only that, it doesn't smell, I've not had any odor come out of my new hamster's cage. Maybe it's too soon to tell, but I think it's still a good sign, I doubt it'll be hard to spot clean since hamsters don't make big messes. The only "problem" I have with it is because it is a really expanding fluffy bedding, it is deceiving when you try to fill a 6 inch pan to the near top with it, since the hamster walking around it will flatten it over time due to its lack of density. I recommend adding a different substrate to it to help lessen that, Aspen is great. That's not much of an issue but rather just a fault of what the product is made out of material-wise but it's not too big a deal to be a detriment. Despite the gamble that is seen in the reviews, this bedding is still recommended for hamsters and for good reason. It's soft, fluffy, safe for them to burrow in since it's just paper, great for burrows at that, and although the dustiness has been stated to have risen over the products lifespan, it's also been stated to be not as dusty as Carefresh would be which is why I chose this brand over that one. Lesser of the two evils in that regard, but I say get this for your hamsters nonetheless because the pros outweigh the cons when you get a good bag. Read more
