Does the job and has a lot of storage options!
I've been wanting something like this for a while. Our shower is a bit anemic when it comes to shelves and places to put stuff. There's just one soap dish and that can be troublesome with some types of soap (e.g., glycerin based...they just fly off). Otherwise, everything has to be on the floor or on the edge of the shower which means they'll get knocked off here and there when going in and out of the shower. We dealt with it for a while but finally decided to try one of these suckers. Setting it up takes a second if only because you need to place the shelves and hanger bars in the right order since they're put onto the main shaft (they don't snap on from the side or anything). Once they're on the bar, you can move them up and down but changing the order requires you to take the end cap off of once side and pull everything off to move them around. Once you decide that though, it's straight forward. The manual provides a guide indicating which parts you need (e.g., top and bottom ends plus X of the middle pieces). Just measure the height of the space where you want to place it, check the chart then start building. The manual tells you to make it just a smidge taller than you need since you're going to pull down on the top and slide the main shaft into place to secure it. I realize I'm tall so for me getting it in place was pretty easy. Just bear in mind the main spring for tension is at the top. I suppose you could try flipping it and going the other way though I would worry about water getting inside the shaft (which is not powder coated) and leading to premature rusting. The selection of shelves and the two towel bars is nice. I've got places to put everything and then some now. Two of the shelves are designed with soap bar holders and the design of the shelves in general allows for places you can hook or hang stuff so you can be creative about what you put where. As some others have mentioned, it can feel wobbly if you pull on it but as long as you realize this is not meant to support your weight, it's fine. I haven't felt like regular usage (putting things on the shelves, taking them off, pumping a shampoo dispenser on the self) has felt in any way wobbly. Just don't go swinging on it. :) The shelves and bar are well coated (I got the black one) and it looks like it'll last for a while. The shelves can rotate in place well so that also means you can bump into them and move them. Not a serious problem though and potentially helpful especially with the hanger/towel bars. If there's any gripe, I'd say it's the one towel bar you get with pegs on it. Since they're on one side, and given the way the part that connects to the pole is angled, you can only use it in one orientation. You can't really reverse it so if it doesn't work for you the way you really want it to, you can't do much about it. It might have been better if they oriented the pegs on the top so you can still loop anything with a cord or string but can do so from either side. I suppose you can still do that with the pegs on the "wrong" side based on how you're using it but still it felt a bit off. In the end, though, this thing does what it's supposed to and looks good to me. Read more
