They were not so tight that they hurt the kids heads while wearing their marching band hats. In the heat they all said that they kept the sweat off their faces and necks. I wear headbands a lot. But I either loose them or they break, so this 12 pack is a godsend for me. My only issue and the reason I knocked off one star is because they don't stay in place on top of my head. They have the tendency to slide, so bobby pins are a must to keeping them in place. It's hard to find the perfect one that doesn't slide.
