THE KEYBOARD IS ON MAC MODE BY DEFAULT!! I thought there was something wrong with my keyboard when I first got it because all the keys were working just fine except for the function keys. It turned out that the keyboard was on a mac keyboard layout configuration. A simple flip of the switch in the back of the board and boom, your standard windows keyboard! With that being said, I am currently typing on this keyboard as I write this review. Fantastic product and worth every penny! I got the blue-switch version because I am a very big fan of tactile click-clacks and boy does this board deliver. Space bar has a nice "bump" to it while the other keys are light and and provide a very nice click to them. Removing and putting the keycaps back is an ease too so if you're big on customizing your board then this is a good option. The board itself feels amazing and heavy. Excellent quality and deck flex has become extinct on this thing. On top of that, the elevation pedal things (I forgot what they're called) have two versions that you can pull out, a smaller and a larger one, for how you'd prefer your keyboard to be elevated. As for the backlighting, it is fantastic. I didn't show it on the picture but the RGB is beautiful on this board and really shines through the keys brilliantly. The amount of modes that are offered for this backlighting is astounding too, spanning from tracing effects to simple breathing. All in all, this is a fantastic keyboard with fantastic build quality and even fantastic backlighting. Typing out this review was even a pleasure because of its feel. I cannot recommend it enough! I've been using mechanical keyboards for a long time. Long ago, Cherry switches were the only things you could get and the only discussion was about the color. But I've been happy with them, so never thought of changing. I was a little bit skeptical about the Gateron switches (blues, in this case) but people really seemed to like them so I thought I would give it a try and I'm glad I did. These things are buttery smooth. I had grown accustomed to the feel of the others and thought an improvement over that was simply hype, but that simply was not the case. The great thing is that if I want to switch to a different switch, since this board is hot swappable, I can do it. There is no software that runs this board and the RGB is managed through a ton of options you can manage through key combos that are included in the owners manual. It was super easy to get it to a color scheme I liked and I don't have to worry about some proprietary software changing my settings every time it gets an update. This board works from the moment you plug it in and it is an absolute dream to type on. This is easily the best mechanical keyboard I've ever used and I'm already starting to forget the name brand boards I used to own and love. Read more

I type 90wpm on average and have beeb for 20 years professionally. I have just recently found KeyChron and I own several. This one is perfect for working from home with quiet red switches, yet responsive to fast paced typing. Definitely my favorite so far, I love the black/white keycap offset for dim light. I don't use it for gaming so I can't comment on that front, but for business it's great for working from home or just staying quiet while maintaining mechanical control. The LEDs are neat, I use them from time to time, mostly to see if it's dark. I especially like the one-key light switch to toggle through the different patterns. That combined with the hardware switch from mac -> windows really makes this a go-to for admins and gamers alike. P.S. this is my 2nd C2, my teenage daughter has adopted my original ;) Read more

I run a Mac and gaming PC side by side, so I have two keyboards on my desk at all times. The main on a USB switch, and the second is permanently Mac so I can use that while gaming. The main keyboard has to work on both and be good at all things. Right now, that's this Keychron C2 with blue switches. It feels and sounds great. This is, by far, the best value mechanical keyboard for the Mac, and also the least expensive. In my garage, I have 4 Matias Tactile Pro boxes. This is not out of love, though I do like them. This is because they don't last. I'm not a crazy hard or angry typist or anything. They just eveeeeentualy start doing thaaaat after a couple of years (if you're lucky). The keyboard case is also giant and bulbous. If Matias ever refreshes the design, I'll be first in line. The Tactile Pro is the most easily swapped in mechanical keyboard you can get for the Mac, no doubt. It just works, it has all the right keys, and they do what you'd expect. Just get a 3-year extended warranty. I've tried the Macally Backlit Mechanical Keyboard for Mac . It's decent, but the keys feel small or oddly placed, and even though they are backlit, they can be hard to read. I never did "gel" with this one. I also have a pair of WASD Keyboards V3's with their "Mac Retro by Deep Creative" key caps. These are tanks, look and feel great, but they're expensive at over $200, neither set of indicator lights (caps lock, etc.) works properly, or even the same way, and the "Mac mode" is not the best. For example, volume up/down requires a combo keypress that I still don't remember to this day because it was so annoying that I bought a DROK USB Knob to control volume (actually a very cool thing that I've kept with newer keyboards since). On the downside: The Keychron C2 is missing a few F keys. The screen cap, mic, and light bulb (RGB mode) keys can not be remapped to act as F13, F14, and F15 on the Mac, despite the affirmative answer to my Q&A above. The small left Command key often makes me invoke Spotlight accidentally (by hitting the space bar as well), but I'll get used to that eventually. I also wish it had a true Mac numpad layout (* at the corner) and monochromatic keys. How's their customer service? I wanted to replace the supplied cable because I didn't have room for it coming straight out the back of the keyboard, so I wrote to Keychron asking about the cable specs. Someone wrote back 4 hours later, saying they'd "confirm with the team" and get back to me "asap." Great! I never heard from them again. For the record, the UGREEN Right Angle USB-C Cable works perfectly. All of that said, with the replaceable key caps and switches, great feel and feedback, and functionality that's almost on-par with the Matias keyboard at half the price—with better subjective looks and a smaller objective footprint—I think this is the one. You definitely can't beat the price. Now, let's see how long it lasts. Read more
