Kingfancy Women Vintage 1950s Dress Retro Cocktail Party Swing Dresses with Cap Sleeves

I bought this for a sock hop that I hosted for the retirement community I work at. I wasn’t sure what size to get so I ordered a large and extra large just in case. Pros- The large was a perfect fit, so it is true to size. Proportions were perfect. It had just enough stretch to be perfectly comfortable all day, but did not stretch out or get misshapen. It looked good even before I put my petticoat on. This dress stirred up so many happy memories for my residents! All of the ladies were telling me about their dresses that they used to wear, the parties they went to, the dancing and romancing! Cons- it was a little warm. The dress is an excellent fit and quality . I love the material and the beauty of its design. This dress reminds me of a dress my mother would have worn in the early 1960’s when I put it on I am reminded of her beauty and her gentle ways. My mother lost her battle with cancer at the age of 44. She would have looked beautiful in such a fine design. . This is a really cute dress. I got it to wear to my company's fall social event, and got many compliments on it. It fits true to size, and is overall comfortable. The fabric is not quite as nice as I would expect from something that's mostly cotton. What's worse, in my opion, is that the chest area has a polyester lining (so the I dont think the dress isn't really 95% cotton, as advertised). The fabric itself is reasonably solid and not at all see through, so I'd have rathered they leave off the polyester. The pockets are great, and easily replace a small purse. I fit a full size phone and wallet in one, and keys, swipe card reading glesses, and sunglasses in the other. The skirt is a nice midi length. The cap sleaves are cap sleeves. They are a bit restrictive, but really not too bad for normal daily movement. I got it on sale for $20, and it is a good value at that price. I am 5’8” and approximately 220 lbs, and average a size 16-18 (size 14 at Lane Bryant.) I ordered this dress in the 3XL and it fits perfect. The shoulders are wide, so you’ll need an appropriate bra so the straps don’t show. I did not order the underskirt but it would definitely add some nice body to the dress! Looks wonderful, beautiful dress! True to size! It's not see through. It's really well built and is warm, but short sleeve. As an autistic individual, was not too thick or scratchy, no sensory upset. I recommend buying a cardigan with it. Comes with a belt. A little flat so be sure to buy a petticoat skirt. Read more
