I was worried I wouldn't like this backpack but I ended up loving it

I was worried I wouldn't like this backpack but I ended up loving it. I purchased the Herschel Settlement backpack and I had to return it because the lining in the backpack bled onto the fabric, it was a mess! But if your deciding between which one to get, get this backpack. It's so much better. I returned it & with the money I bought this backpack. It's a great discount for a quality backpack. It feels pretty durable, the fabric feels like nylon. It has no lining either. To me the fabric seems like it would be waterproof, but I haven't tested it or been in the rain with it. The backpack has lots of room! I could fit: a 1 inch binder, 2 regular sized journals, a thicker 1-inch journal, and 2 books. The very outside pocket fits my calculator perfectly. The middle pocket has inner pockets that can hold your phone or pens & pencils. Speaking of pens & pencils, there is a pocket by the handle that you can put pencils into. However, it's not too deep; the pencils may fall out of your not two careful. The pocket for the laptop is awesome too, it's padded on the bottom and sides. The padding is nothing amazing though, keep in mind the backpack is very lightweight. The straps are perfect as well. Not too thick. This is an amazing backpack, you can't go wrong. I feel it's better then the Herschel backpack being that it has better quality. I like the look and style and how useful it is. Overall I'm happy with my purchase. Read more

Great Product!

KristenSeptember 1, 2013

I'm a freshman in college and I bought this back pack about three weeks ago and it's extremely useful. The inside of the "true blue" colored bag is like a robins egg blue and it's really pretty. The bag also comes with a kipling water bottle which is really nice. The bag is super durable and the zippers are really nice. It feels kind of like a tent (texture wise) on the outside. The inside has a divider and then a laptop sleeve that fits my 15.5" laptop comfortably. The straps are padded and the pockets are a good size on the front. There's special pockets for little things and pencils, and a pocket on the very top of the bag that also holds pencils and pens and is really nice. The inside of the bag is waterproof just like the outside and that's great for the water bottle that comes with it for when it sweats. However the one and only thing that I don't like about this bag is that there's no outside pocket to put your water bottle on so if your bag is really full, you'll have to carry it in your hand to keep your stuff from getting wet, which is somewhat of a hassle. For me at least. It's a little slouchy as well. Doesn't stand up straight as shown in the picture if nothing's in it to hold it up. Overall I love it and my only complaint is about the lack of a bottle holder. I would definitely recommend it. An excellent buy for the price with many uses. Read more

Teriffic backpack. Nobody makes a true blue like Kilping. Georgeous!

Bought this as a graduation gift for my neice who is going to nursing school. Really well made with TONS of storage space for all the things students love/need to carry. Laptop/tablet storage is perfect and well protected. True Blue is my favorite of the Kipling colors, next, the Tango Red (which is hard to find) and then the black. Nice, deep, true colors that stay that way after years of use. I have been buying Kipling for 20-25 years now and still use first purses and wallets I bought - well made, durable products that last and even my older purses are still in style. I have three pieces of "soft" luggage - carryalls and clothes bags - in a beautiful hunter green, that I don't see available anymore. Durable, practical and great for travel. Cleans easily with soap and water if soiled, but not much stains or sticks to this fabric . Highly recommend all their products. Read more

and the little pocket for small items on top is the best. My headphones

J NAugust 8, 2015

I'm a grad student & I really adore this backpack. There's so many pockets, and the little pocket for small items on top is the best. My headphones, aquaphor, eyedrops and little things go in there and it's very easy to access. The quality of the material is great, easy to clean, and the zippers are nice too. There's two pockets within the bigger section of the backpack, one for laptop & another one that reminds me of an expanding folder. I can keep all my chargers in the "expanding folder" and they don't float around the bottom of the bag. My sister likes her Herschel better, citing the fact that Kipling's straps are more narrow so she finds them less comfortable. I'm petite so I don't find a problem with the straps, and it never feels heavy on my back. Just for an idea of how much the backpack can hold, altogether I normally can fit the following into my backpack: Yearly Plumpaper planner, mini whiteboard, 1.5" & 1" Discbound notebooks, Laptop, PS Vita charger, laptop charger, cardigan, two pencil bags, small make-up bag, bag of GinGins, wallet, external charger & cable, gum/mints, granola bars or mini tupperwares of snacks, & a 20 oz Blender Bottle. Great School bag

KallySeptember 1, 2012

This is a great bag for school or travelling because it carries a lot. Just to give any one and idea of how much it cant carries. I usually go to school with 2 note books, 2 text books that are the size of an encyclopedia, my laptop (which is about 5-6lbs),a pencil case, an iPod, a wallet, a cellphone charger and other miscellaneous stuff. So as you can see it carries a lot. The only problem with bag is that the laptop section, which has a strap that cant hold the laptop in place. This isn't a big issue for me because the the laptop fits securely, so anyone who has a laptop that is bigger the 15 inch would not be able to use the strap. Other than that one issue this is a great bag and a great staple piece for any one. Read more
