Issues with hand blender. Buy mixer separately.
I ended up returning these items before I used them for the reasons below. First thing I noticed is that the beaters are 1/2 to 1 inch shorter than standard beaters and are narrower, too. The beater height would make a difference when making a large pot of mashed potatoes or double batch of cookies as they either would not reach the bottom or, if pushed down, the mixer would be in the food (or close to it). While I know this mixer has great reviews, the other reason I chose to return this set is because I discovered the hand blender has horrible reviews on KA's website. Customers are complaining left and right that the guard falls off easily and then gets chewed up into the food by the blades. They're mad because they not only have to throw out the food, but then can't find a replacement guard. I find it underhanded and just plain crappy to mislead people into buying a problematic appliance by pairing it with a highly rated one, thereby obscuring the true bad reviews of the hand blender by commingling with reviews for the hand mixer. So bottom line is if you want the KA hand mixer then buy it separately and skip the hand blender. For me, I decided to go with the Ninja Foodi Power Mixer System. It has great reviews and I like that it takes up less room by sharing the motor. Also, the Ninja hand blender has a built-in non-removable guard so doesn't have the issue the KA one has. Read more
