I’m really impressed with these KitchenAid Gourmet Stainless Steel Serving Tongs! They feel sturdy and well-made, not flimsy like some cheaper brands. The stainless steel has a nice weight to it, giving you good control whether you’re flipping chicken on the grill or serving salad at the table. The locking mechanism is smooth and easy to use — it stays locked when stored, which saves drawer space. The hang hook is a great touch, too; I keep mine hanging on a utensil rack for quick access. What I especially like is that the grip feels comfortable, and they don’t slip even when handling something greasy or heavy. Cleanup is also super easy — they go right in the dishwasher with no issues. Overall, a great value for the quality. I purchased a set of these KitchenAid 12" stainless steel utility tongs. As with all of my KitchenAid utensils, I am happy with my purchase. They are very durable, great length, especially for frying to prevent burns, are scratch resistant, wash up easily by hand or in the dishwasher, and has a mechanism for locking when not in use. These KitchenAid tongs are exactly what you need if you're looking for a sturdy and reliable pair of kitchen tongs. These tongs were the ideal size. Small enough to fit in my hoodie pocket as I attended an elegant dinner party. My original idea was to bring them to prank people who appeared to be pretentious. Such as coming up behind them and grapping hold of a butt check or give their ear a nice yank. While I was there I was subjected to a wonkish guy wearing a sweater vest who insisted on describing a rather bothersome boil on his side. Exhausted by the conversation, I ask him show it to me in the kitchen. He was eager to display it, that was for sure. In the kitchen next to the wine rack, he revealed it, and it was big, the approximate size of a dodge ball, and ugly, like my 7th grade math teacher. It looked volatile, like it would explode at any moment. Now ordinarily I would have donned a splash guard just to take a look at it, safety protocols being what they are. But because I had the tongs, they provided me what I considered at the time to be a safe distance.Although it turned out not to be. In a very quick and committed move the tongs grabbed hold of the boil, because I had a steady grip, I squeezed in a very strategic manner, just like the owners guide so clearly stated. And it didn't disappoint. The grotesque boil ruptured like a water balloon filled with gelatinous fluid, of the very thick variety, the kind people like me could previously only dream about. Turns out, I could have used a splash guard, it went everywhere, like a tidal wave from a waterpark ride. Some of it even hit the ceiling, the blender, the host, along with all the dinner guests who were in close proximity, drinking wine and having engaging conversations. But the shear magnitude, not to mention velocity, of the torrent of hot pus magma, put an immediate stop to any conversation and the drinking of wine. Most of the guests began crying, at least those that weren't getting sick behind the refrigerator, beside the long-haired cat that was feverishly attempting to lick up as much as it could. I even used the tongs to pick someone's extracted partial plate from the litter box in the corner. So yeah, what I'm saying is, this is a great product! This is my second pair of these same tongs. They are really sturdy and can go in the dishwasher without getting rusty. The length is also perfect so that they are strong, but can still hold a lot. Read more
