I was looking for dress for a cruise ship formal dinner night. I didn't want anything flashy or sparkly. I just wanted something simple and classic. I'm 51 years of age and it is about time I got to wear something sophistcated and comfortable. After looking at the photos that people were nice enough to add to their reviews (thank you), I figured I would give it a try. I am 5ft 2in, 40 DD, 45 in waist, 54 in hips, and weigh 214 lbs....so yeah, plus size & curvy LOL. I ordered the navy blue, size 2X. I hightly recommend this dress. It is figure flattering and the side tie kind of cinches and emphasizes your waist. The fabric is very soft and verrrryyy stretchy, It feels so comfy, I could sleep in it. Since I am petite, the hem fell to about mid-calf on me. When I put on platform heels about 3 or 4 in high, the dress looked much better. The ruffled hem is surprisingly very cute. It kind of sways when I walk, making it much more interesting. I was a bit frustrated when I first tried it on though. How the heck do I tie this thing????!!! LOL. There is a tiny hole in the side of the dress to slip one end of the belt through. Slip it through the inside hole, and bring the belt around the back of your waist, and to the side of the dress. The belt connected to the ruffled part of the dress can be tied to it. Really, this is how all true wrap dresses work, but the little hole was so well hidden, I could not find it LOL. I got the purple. Beautiful color. I was trying to decide between XL and 2XL and purchased the 2X. It's a little bit big everywhere, and ties way behind me. but i think the XL would have been too tight in the arms, as I have heavy upper arms. With that said, the dress is very flattering. It is a thin material, but i don't think you can see through it as some have said, It hides a lot of my lumps and bumps so i love that. It is so light to wear on a summer evening and so comfortable. I'm wearing it tomorrow to an outdoor wedding. The ruffle is so cute. It comes down to mid calf on me which I don't mind and is very flowy and moves when you walk. Packaging - This dress did arrive a little beat up after being tossed around in the loose envelope package. The hanger it was on was also broken. However, I found no damage on the dress. It fit beautifully! As others mentioned, this is a true wrap dress and is fully adjustable to your torso. Fabric flows over your curves and is of medium weight. I'd say it was just heavy enough to be comfortable. It hid all my flaws perfectly. The 1X was just a little big based on how loose it felt on my shoulders and arms, but I'm not complaining since the dress itself is fully adjustable. Cleavage was perfect (36DDD) with a good bra. I did have to be careful not to tug/fiddle with the dress tie as I could easily unwrap myself. LOL! For reference I'm 42 and currently a 42-35-45 (US size 14-16). I did not feel the need to wear Spanx under the black dress (probably would with a lighter color). A really good back smoothing bra and a supportive hipster that tucked things in smoothly did the trick. For women cursed with the post children, lower belly apron cuddle roll, the fabric drape and ruffles did a great camouflage job of that problem area. Yay! I did wear thigh highs and the black color of the dress and fabric hid the side thigh seam/bulge just fine according to my hubs. It was evening though so not sure what it would look like in bright lights. I'm in the process of losing more weight, but I can see myself still wearing this even if I drop another 10-20 lbs. I never write reviews, but buyer be warned. The dress is too small. The sleeves are very fitted and the length in the front was just a little longer than tshirt length. I am a size medium (every time). This medium fit like an extra small. There was no size shown on the tag of the dress, so I'm not positive it was the correct size. Also, the material felt cheap. This dress is so flattering and comfortable! I had to find something for my nieces wedding and have been searching high and low for over a month! I decided on a pair of black dress pants pants and a nice top until I found this dress! I've never worn a dress in my life, this is such a flattering and pretty dress! I'm on the smller size of a size 14 in jeans, and I got the 1x black. And the fit is perfect! Not too tight or loose. I also bought a Maidenform full body shaper on amazon to go underneath so I feel and look better! It took me a little while to figure out how to tie it, you take the tie on the left hand side around your waist in the front and through the loop on your right, then around your back going left, then tie! The dress quality is truly awesome. The fit is another story. I really wanted this to fit. I have a large waistline (or lack of one). The straps that tie around the waist ended just under my breasts..from a side profile, I looked pregnant. There was not enough material to cover my cleavage. Read more
