This is one of those tools that I couldn't quite justify buying for a while. But now that I own it, I use it plenty often. It wouldn't be my first addition to a toolbox, but once you've established a good baseline, it's a nice, small one to add. It does not have a light on it. I assumed incorrectly that it would. I use the temperature gun very frequently. Some uses: - Diagnose poor house insulation - Figure out the coldest parts of the fridge (important for getting optimal meat storage). - Lots of uses when cooking. Note: temperature range is limited compared to a full fledged IR heat gun. Also, be aware that a material's emissivity can throw off temperature readings (beware of shiny stuff mainly). Read more

The voltage detector provides both audio and visual conformation of the presence of voltage.
