Great starter set! Everything you need in one. Read more
Only reason for giving one star is I can't give it zero starts. The top of the container is plastic, so every time you put the knife(s) in or out you are running the blade against the plastic. Knives are extremely dull. They are not balanced. It was a great idea if they had used cork or something else besides plastic. I do not recommend Read more

Very disappointed in the quality of this knife set. The only good thing about it is the design of the knife box. It’s very compact and takes up very little counter space. I think the way the knives slide in the top is pretty creative. Everything else about this set is very cheap. Right out of the box there were damaged pieces. The vegetable peeler (which is entirely made of plastic, even the “blade”) had a piece that was snapped off rendering it useless. One of the knife handles has a chip in the finish. The handles are very lightweight and offer no balance to the blades. The blades felt sharp, but who knows how long that will last. The handle and blade are two pieces, and from my experience this design is bound to fail. Ideally, you’d want the blade to be solid through the handle. Lastly, the measuring spoons are made of cheap plastic. Spend a little more money and get yourself a higher quality set of knives that will last you a lifetime. These are not it. Read more

these are cheap knives, not especially well made, thin and not especially well made; all new knives are super sharp at the outset, these stamped blades feel like they'll be a bear to sharpen once they dull ... the holder that comes with them is not particularly well designed BUT for the money it would be hard to find a better deal and they store extremely compactly in a small kitchen; neither the peeler nor the scissors are particularly good, but they may well be good enough for your occasional use if you're not heavy into cooking you won't develop knife skills with these or get much practice of any use for your audition at The Cooking Channel, but if you just want a full set of basic knives for occasional use in a small apartment kitchen, they're no worse than IKEA's cheapest knives and they'll do the job for a long time Read more
The media could not be loaded. Mrs Aloha Friday nearly passed out when she saw this set in SAGE green! It's a near perfect match to paint Glidden Farm Fresh Green, which is on our kitchen accent walls. There was no turning back for her after that! RANDOM THOUGHTS: - Combination sets like these are rarely top of the line, premium quality, but they aren't expected to be. It's why you don't see the premium knives in fancy colors, which are more of a novelty, rather than "serious" tools. I liken them to grill sets, tool sets and bar sets. The focus is on providing quantity over quality. That doesn't mean every item in the kits are bad, they just can't each be premium for the price. (Currently $24 as of this writing, which is terrific.) - This is a beginner's economy set that doesn't look like it. It's very attractive. We own some premium knives, but it's not in the budget to stock the kitchen with as many of those as we need. They are an investment for the bigger, harder jobs where you really need speed and efficiency. Enter solid knives that do the quick, simple jobs like slicing a tomato for a salad, some onions for a burger, an apple, or chicken breast about to go on the grill. - The cleaver is a beast. As you can see in Mrs AF's video, it chopped the apple easily. It was slightly jerky because of the ridges in the knife and her not being accustomed to that. - The other knives are sharp as well, but not very strong in the hand. When cutting carrots, a pretty tough test, Mrs AF said they tended to shy away from the center as she pressed down, and she got thinner slices than she wanted. Again, this could be the pattern on the blade that creates this. - The silver metal decoration or accent that rests between the blade and the handle is movable on all the knives. It should be tight so food can't get in, and you can't hear it jingle on the blade when you move the knife. Some were worse than others. This lent a cheap feel to the knife. I'd like to have seen that immovable. - After chopping a few carrots, Mrs AF's pointer finger was sore and had a red mark where it rested on the blade and the edge of the handle. (This is how you're supposed to use a knife, not with your fingers only on the handle.) The edge of the handle being square, isn't comfortable or ergonomic after longer periods of time or harder food. It looks cool though, and it's not slippery. Though a rubbery plastic (not real wood), it has a matte texture that keeps it from slipping. - After hand washing each piece and testing with cutting, no wear was visible to the finish, but I would expect that to show up further down the line. Hopefully much further. - The peeler (probably not the main reason you're purchasing the set, but here is some commentary anyway) is plastic with a coated blade, and we have mixed feelings on it. While sharp, it can't go up and down so each stroke counts. It can only go in one direction. So, going towards you was smooth, but away from you (the safer way to peel) tended to bite in too deeply, and caused strange, choppy cuts. Mrs AF took a photo of that. The peeler blade, being white, was stained by the carrots, even after considerable scrubbing. It's hard to tell, but it might be carrot that's actually trapped in the blade housing. - The scissor is sharp and cuts cleanly even at the tip. We didn't use it for chicken bones or anything tough, just plastic, but because you can't take the two pieces apart for cleaning, we don't intend on using it for raw chicken. - While the product description says the set is dishwasher safe, both Mrs AF and I recommend avoiding that and handwashing if you wish to keep the finish lasting a long time. Just in our experience with other coated knives like the Swiss brand. - Nonstick-wise the jury's out. Raw chicken sticks. Raw vegetables not as much, but they still do a little. The pattern and nonstick finish do help with harder vegetables, but the veg are wet and it's hard for them not to create suction and stick to everything. We don't know how long these blades will hold their edge or their beautifully colored finish, but we hope they last a while because Mrs AF loves them no matter what. :o) Read more

Beautiful modern knife set that looks great on the counter. The handles are comfortable and balanced, and the blades came razor-sharp right out of the box. They cut cleanly through meat, veggies, and fruit. I like that the stand keeps them organized and feels sturdy. After a few washes, no rusting or dulling yet. Great value for a full set. Read more
