So I love having this I pretty much use it as an everyday carry whether it's sharpening my knife someone else's knife using it to scratch a mark onto a piece of metal I've used it to deburr stuff granted some of the uses I'm using it for might not be as it's intended to be used but it's worked I've used it to mark metal before I cut with a torch and things like that used it to sharpen some kitchen knives you know you're not getting a perfect sharp on it it's not you're not taking a completely destroyed knife and fixing it up with this but something that's just gone a little bit dull and needs a refresh this is perfect for and you can get something that's dull to an okay edge enough that it'll cut but you're going to be better off going to a whetstone for that I think just to get a better edge and then maintain it with this but yeah I love having it I have sharp in my knives other people's knives my father's knives when we're doing stuff sharpened scissors basically anything with a straight edge and then I've also used it to chamfer I believe was the correct word edges on different pieces that I've cut just trying to take the very sharp edge off and this will do it. I love these things! I have 3 or 4 of them and have given a few as gifts as well. Great little tool for putting a quick edge on just about any knife. While it wont put an edge on like a set of good sharpening stones, or a sharpening system, it's a amazing tool for a quick touch up in the field. I even keep one in the kitchen! Every knife I have used this on, and it has been MANY, you can definitely get the blade edge to "Hair popping sharp". Or paper slicing sharp of that's more your tried and true test. Well worth the money for a quick and easy way to slap a quick edge on pretty much and straight edge knife. Practice on an old junk knife until you get the hang of it, and after that it'll be a breeze to slap an edge on your knife in no time. I also like using these to help remove blade chips and knicks before sharpening on my wet stones. Get one, it's a nice addition to your sharpening kit, or as a stand alone tool. Highly recommended! Not a perfect edge but if you need a quick sharpening I can't think of a better tool. Lawn mower blades, machete, axe, all my edges that need a quick sharp. I have used this on my kitchen knives and my EDC you get a quick edge but for fine edges you should use a more traditional method. Read more

Like any knife sharpener, technique and dexterity are required. Carbide cutter will far outlast more expensive 'chef's steel' sharpeners. This is my second purchase, keeping one in the kitchen and one for toolbox. Read more
