You can always trust the people at Kong to make great products. These are for senior dogs and even though I have a puppy, he totally enjoys it. Theyβre great to put peanut butter and freeze and then give to the dog and it will keep his attention for a good 20 minutes. Excellent product very bouncy just like a ball. Read more

Just a great product! I bought the "junior" kong for my puppy when I brought him home ten years ago. He has always loved it and still has it. I bought him the firmer "adult" kong and he loves it stuffed with peanut butter. Now that he's entering his senior years I thought he deserved the "senior" version. He has loved it since it came out of the box. This is just a simple product that excels in every way. It is the right shape. The right texture. It is washable. And they last forever. They are a real value. Read more

My dogs love this. Well, only when there is something inside for them to eat of course. I have a 9 year old black lab beagle mix and a 5 year old Chihuahua and the senior small was the perfect size for both. Neither of my dogs are major chewers so that helped. They are not too heavy, my beagle mix will actually pick this one up (opposed to the regular red KONG). They feel very durable, as they are rubber. The price of the two pack was worth it, as both my dogs have a durable treat toy for not that much. Read more

When my Shih Tzu, Missy, was a pup, I got her the KONG Classic (red one) in small, but she never took to it. In the past year or two, her favorite toy has been a bone made of a gel-like substance. She happily entertains herself with it. I always take it with me when I take her to a friend's house to watch movies and she keeps herself busy! When I recently stumbled across the KONG page here on Amazon again, I saw they now had this Senior version that appeared to be more of a softer, perhaps gel-like substance whereas the KONG Classic is super hard rubber. Even though Missy is only 6 1/2, I thought I'd give it a try. Typically, as soon as she saw I had a toy in my hand, she wanted it! I removed it from the packaging and tossed it to her. She was positively gleeful! She played with her new KONG Senior for the rest of the day and has continued to enjoy it. She is a fairly intense chewer, so I'm not sure if this one will stand up to her teeth like as much as the Classic would, but it's great to have another toy that she enjoys chewing so much. How long it will last remains to be seen! Missy has a very sensitive tummy, so I keep her treats fairly restricted and have never tried any of the KONG treats made to go into these toys. I do sometimes put in a couple treats that are really too small for the opening just to make it more fun for her. I just ordered some new treats that are slightly longer/larger that may work well to be used in this new KONG. For now, it's a great choice! Read more

This is not by any means my first Kong purchase. When we got our first little rescue dog and realized that she was both very smart and had lots of energy, our first stop was to buy a Kong Classic toy. She was about a year and a half when we got her, and it was the perfect fit. The next addition to our family (just a few days ago) was a 9-week old Husky/Jack Russell mix (I know, right?) who we were determined to raise in a healthy, well-trained way. As with any puppy, he enjoys exploring and quickly discovered that baseboards, rugs and shoes were more interesting than anything else to "investigate" with his little razor teeth. I quickly jumped on Amazon and ordered the Senior Kong toy. Now you may be wondering why I chose the Senior toy instead of the Puppy Kong, also avaialble. Really it comes down to personal preference. Despite being only 9-weeks old, the husky side of our little Nico is tough, and he has already put a few holes in the softer puppy toys from various brands that we purchased. I don't think he's quite ready for the adult Kong, so we got the Senior Kong because the documentation stated it was a little tougher than the Puppy one, but not as tough as the Adult. DESIGN/BUILD Made of durable natural rubber, this toy is thick enough that puncture marks do not create weaknesses in the structure of the toy. You see, most toys are made of theoretically durable materials (rubber, hard plastic etc) but many are flawed in design, in that a puncture mark from a little dog tooth then creates a weakness in the whole toy. Suddenly there are four or five punctures, and off comes the edge of a rubber bone. The Kong is different, in that it uses its shape and thickness to counteract this. The edges of the toy are internal, meaning it is a lot harder for a dog of any size to grab one of the edges and rip - the rest of the toy is thick enough so that you don't have to worry. When clean, this toy has the natural vanilla rubber smell that is rather pleasant. As mentioned, the durability is head and shoulders above other dog toys on the market! PURPOSE Unlike other toys, the Kong is not a chew toy per se. By making the toy hollow, the Kong Company has in fact created more of a puzzle than an easy chew, so that dogs have to work smartly to get at their favorite treats. Our new pup spends almost he chews the edges sometimes, but mostly his primary goal is the goodness on the inside. THE PERFECT KONG RECIPE: We have found this to be one of the best mixes for your pup, and healthy too! - A handful of our pup's Kibble (We use Flint River Ranch for its human-grade meat content) - A few Zuke's Mini Dog Treats - his favourite little morsels! - A few frozen blueberries, although fresh will do - Top it off and seal with some organic no-sugar Peanut Butter As you may already know, the Kong can be frozen after it has been filled for the ultimate summer snack! OVERALL In my first review of the Kong classic I said "I wish I had a reason to buy another", simply because I appreciated the design, functionality and cost-effectiveness. With our new puppy that reason came along (with wiggles and face kisses) and we are happy to add to our Kong collection. Oh and as for the first one we bought nearly two years ago? Almost looks like new... Read more
