If not, and you’re okay with your dog having an obnoxiously joyful new obsession, this squeaky giant tennis ball might just be the one. My pitbull is absolutely smitten with it. I, on the other hand, have to hide it at night (and sometimes during daylight hours when my sanity hangs by a thread). The squeak isn’t just loud — it’s a full-body experience. Think rubber chicken meets motivational speaker. It squeaks when he bites down, and it squeaks again when the air rushes back in. Stereo squeaking. Echoing through my home. But you know what? He lives for it. The ball-to-mouth ratio is hilarious — like he’s trying to eat a planet — and for once, a toy has lasted longer than a single play session. We’re going on weeks here. Our 1 YO worker dog LOVES these balls. It’s his favorite right now They are big enough not to be a choking hazard for him (~70 lbs), he loves chasing them and chewing them. Ball #1 lasted weeks-months. Eventually it was destroyed like a regular tennis ball. We’re on #2 and its life span is going to be much shorter: days- weeks. The size is a huge plus, so I will likely get at least one more. We also have a rubber ball that size, and it has lasted longer. The squeaker isn’t ridiculously loud, but does get annoying if you have a dog that just chews on it for the squeak. The squeaker died day one on the 2nd ball. The outer layer does begin to let loose from the ball after serious play and big-dog slobber, which makes it easy to pull off. I have 100lbs bluetick coonhound/ bluetick heeler mix. Granted, she doesn't have a soft mouth like a lot of other dogs I've seen, but she isn't bionic! I got this Kong ball in XL so she might not have as much jaw strength by having to extend her jaw a little more. She pops regular tennis balls in minutes and she loses interest immediately. I hoped this might be a solution but sadly nope. Not even close. As my headline states, the ball lasted a good three hours of off and on playing. But when my husband got home and she grabbed the ball excitedly to show him her new toy, she bit straight through and the squeaker stopped. Then in a matter of 5 minutes the ball was in shreds. Once that first pop happens, balls don't last intact much longer. I'm going to go broke trying to find this girl a ball that lasts! In any case, if you have a sweet dog that is also a hunter with a pretty strong prey drive and loves squeaky toys, consider this a temporary treat. My girl was super happy with it for a little while!
