The mattress topper is almost like an overstuffed comforter with heavy-duty straps to keep it in place. This topper has actually seen the most use as a temporary mattress directly on the floor for when we host sleepovers for the kids. It works wonderfully for this because it can be washed as needed (in a commercial washer as the cal king is too big for my regular washer). The kids sleep well on this and it is easier to set up than an air mattress. The fabric on both the mattress pad and bottom sheet is soft and cozy. One end of the elastic straps pulled free from the mattress pad when I pulled too hard on it, trying to remove it without slipping it fully free, so do use care when taking it off to avoid doing the same! I ordered this set in the CalKing size and it fits our bed perfectly. I love that this is a two piece set and is great for different seasons or needs. We currently have the cooling, thinner cover on our bed and I can feel that it is a bit cooler than when it wasn’t on. The thicker mattress topper is nice and squishy thick and should be great for us in the winter when we want to snuggle down into the bed. The elastic around the edges fit our deep mattress easily and we haven’t had any problems with it slipping off. My Amazon rating system- Five stars-As described. May have a minor problem. Good to great value. Four stars-As described but may have a more noticeable flaw or problem. Or, not as good as value. Three stars-Good item.
