I love anything desert and arizona themed so this was the perfect outfit for my son. The shorts are a silk/satin like material and are very soft and so is the shirt. The shorts have strings in the front but are mostly for show which i don't necessarily mind but wouldn't recommend if you wanted something with a draw string to tighten the shorts with.
