Kuranda Chewproof Elevated Dog Bed 40 x 25 - Sunsure Textilene - Birch

If you have a large breed dog, a senior dog, a puppy that chews and won't stop growing, LOOK NO FURTHER! This bed is worth EVERY PENNY!! We purchased this bed in February 2015 for our Senior Labrador (10 years old at the time) to help facilitate his recovery from a viscous multiple coyote attack. The bed arrived in less than 4 days and took two of us about 5 minutes to assemble. The PVC pipe is very thick and wide and sturdy. The tightly woven mesh fabric is pulled extremely taught between the tubing, which offers orthopedic support for the dog and is incredibly strong, despite its simple design! We wanted him elevated off the cold winter floors, and this supported his 75 lb frame beautifully. He took to it immediately! It's extremely lightweight being PVC, and he is able to stretch out completely without hanging off the edge. Two weeks after purchase we brought our 17 week old Labrador puppy home, and he also took to the bed, often "spooning" with the Senior dog. As he has grown (now a year old and +90 lbs!) the two still share the one bed and it has withstood multiple cleanings (drag outside and spray w Dawn and a hose then dry in the sun-SO EASY) and moving in and out of the house etc. Important to note: if you have chewers (our pup was an intense chewer! He destroyed both the purple AND the black KONG toys if that is any indication of his strength!) he has not been able to chew ANY part of this bed--not the legs (he will drag it around though lol) and the fabric has not frayed or torn ANYWHERE so he can't get ahold of that either!! You can tell whoever was a part of the design process with this bed is or was a large breed owner--it's brilliantly made! We love that the bed can easily hold both dogs, with a combined weight of 160+ lbs! It has hardly bowed in the middle at all after a year+ daily use, and the little bit that has bowed doesn't alter the support one bit, we are talking VERY little sag, maybe enough to hold 1/2 cup rain after a hard shower. I got on this listing this morning to invest in a second bed as the Oklahoma heat is now 100 plus degrees and I want the boys to be able to lounge in the shade desperately and elevated to enjoy what little breeze there is. Can't say enough about this excellent product, it's well worth the money especially if you've already spent $50-$100 on substandard beds that ended up broken and torn in the dumpster! It took my 11 year old lab a month to decide he was going to sleep on the bed. Now he goes to it for his night time sleep. My lab is 86 lbs and he fits in the bed perfectly with his comforter. You need 2 people to put the bed together because the frame is very tight with the fabric stretch. 2 people make it easier to stretch and keep the bed in square. Read more

Fairly easy to assemble, but a little awkward holding the pieces together while putting the little nuts & bolts in it. Seems quite sturdy, and of good quality. Our dogs have not tried to chew it, but I am guessing it would hold up well of a dog tried to chew it. The bed fabric is thick, and has held up well so far with no stretch. Just hose it off to clean, maybe some soapy water to wash it down with if it gets too bad, or if you dog decides to pee on it. Read more

This is the 5th Kuranda bed we have bought from either Amazon or the Kuranda website directly. My dogs love them and we have them in variou areas of the house including the patio decks, as well as in the front rooms by the windows facing the street. The dogs love to lay on them and the mesh lining helps keep them cool. In the winter months we add the fleece toppers for extra warmth and comfort! These toppers are great and just go in the washing machine when they need to be cleaned. Read more

This is the 2nd we've purchased. Bought the first for our greyhound who has since passed. Now we have two 60# pitbulls who love these beds. We love them, too. The first still look almost new after about 10 years of use. Read more

Great bed. We bought two. One was easy to build and one was not. The fabric was cut a tiny bit too small and it was pretty hard to stretch it enough to put it together, but we eventually succeeded. Follow their instructions as best you can since that is probably the easiest way. Read more

Expensive, but worth it. My dogs love raised beds ( we cannot do stuffed beds b/c they explode) This one lets water drain which is crucial on the back deck. Read more
