I love Land’s End coats and swim suits. For some reason these two types of garments are high quality/great value garments at Land’s End. This light weight, hooded rain jacket is full-zip, stretch cuffs, foldable and tucks right in to the hood if you know how to fold and then roll it. This jacket is wind resistant, however, it is not going to keep you warm in winter. It’s strictly to keep one dry in the rain. I’ve read critiques that the fabric is noisy. Love this rain jacket! After a couple of tries on size, I finally got it right. It runs large, even though you want it to be roomy to layer under – I went a size down, and it's perfect (I still have room for a couple of layers). It's really well constructed, compared to the half dozen others I tried, with some nice little features (internal stretchy cords to pull in at the waist, good hood design). And, the fabric is really nice: waterproof but not plastic or rubbery-feeling like some rain jackets. It's lightweight and very packable, but I don't think I'll stuff it into its own pocket, which is one of the ways it's meant to be packed. Great purchase: happy! Read more
This Lands’ End Squall Packable Waterproof Raincoat has been a great addition to my travel wardrobe. First, it truly is a great packable raincoat and performed exactly as intended. I wore it during a downpour while visiting NYC, and it kept me completely dry. It’s not a warm jacket — but it isn’t meant to be — and I was very glad that the sizing runs a bit big, which gave me plenty of room to layer warm clothes underneath. A couple of small notes: I do wish the cuffs had Velcro-adjustable tabs so they could be tightened at the wrist. Also, packing it back into its pocket can be a bit challenging. That said, I’ve only done it a few times, so I suspect that gets easier with practice. Overall, I felt the price point was very fair for the quality and performance. If you’re looking for a reliable, packable waterproof jacket with enough room for layering, this one does the job very well. Read more
I bought this for a trip to Europe and so glad I did!! It's lightweight, very packable, and love the red color. I love the hood when it's pouring out and it doesn't bunch up behind me when I'm not wearing it on my head. I get lots of compliments when I wear it and it's now my go to for rainy days. This lightweight waterproof jacket is just what I was looking for to take on trips. It fits in my backpack without adding bulk and is available when needed. The arms are roomy enough to be comfortable with a sweater underneath. I love that the pockets are zippered and that it has a hood. I am 5’3”. I love that it comes in petite sizes. The fit is just right. Sleeves are plenty long (I ordered a 'tall' to be sure), and roomy enough to wear anything I would want underneath - a bulky sweater, a down vest... you name it. I loved how this coat looks and feels. It is perfect for packing, lightweight and it folds into a very small pocket. The main complaint I have is that it is definitely NOT waterproof. It works well if you need very short protection (like walking across the street or a quick run from the car to the house), but if you are going to be in the constant rain for more than 30 minutes, this will permeate, and get you and all your clothes wet. I purchased for a trip in Europe. It worked well as a wind breaker and short raining spurts. But at Mont St Michel we had persistent drizzle all day and I was completely wet within 30 minutes. The second complaint I have is that the description isn't very clear that the pocket you fold this coat is actually one of the side front pockets of the coat itself. I was expecting a separate bag. The process of fitting the coat into the pocket is very complicated and time consuming. Read more
