To my fellow medical field workers out there, this bag is for you
If you DON'T need hipaa-compliance (that needs the double zipper for the lock) and you're NOT laden-down with too much wound care supplies (the saline bottles, packs of non sterile gauze, all the gauzes, kerlix, abd pads, compression wraps, etc etc), this is the bag you need. The side pockets are big- that's a 40 oz Yeti bottle in the picture, and yes both side pockets fit that bottle just fine without it being too snug. On the inside, there are 2 open-pockets along the 'back', and those are big enough to fit an xl bp cuff + stethoscope in each. On the inside 'front', there's a single zip pocket that's wide enough to fit a manila folder (it can probably hold more in terms of depth but my paperwork is light so it suits me fine). The scale I use is 12" x 12" and there's plenty of room in the bag for a tablet and the lined boxy-case that everyone has to hold their smaller supplies (reflex hammer, pen light, pulse ox, etc). On the outside front, there's a pocket w a velcro cover that's big enough to fit probably 2 bp cuffs. (Sorry I measure everything in terms of that because to me it's the most useful measurement I have right now). The pocket on the left doesn't have a cover but it does have a Velcro closure. Someone else posted a video showing all the pockets and things which ultimately helped me decide to get the bag, so I thought I'd add in photos of how much of your work gear you can fit inside. I have a Hopkins bag, the XL one with the 2 smallish side pockets that supposedly can hold the sharps container, and has the dirty/clean separation, and all that. Used it for years back when I did wound care. But now it's way too big and heavy, and I just wanted something smaller and just big enough to hold what I have now: equipment for mostly vitals and assessment related things. The price I got this for was about $13, which I thought was a good deal compared to everything else I saw for $24 and up. This bag isn't fancy but it's functional and practical (even has the key loop). The bottom is firm enough to hold the scale and my work gear while still keeping its shape. It's very light when empty but still sturdy enough to withstand daily use. The only down side I can think of is that the top zipper to close it all up- the sides are open; to allow for expansion, I imagine. But I'd still recommend it because the size is great, the pockets are actually useful and the price was good. Read more
