I bought a size 9, (I think it was 40 in European sizes). I wear a 9 to 9.5.......and I"m always hesitant to buy shoes over the internet, I mean --- what could possibly go wrong? (smiling!) But actually, these boots are WONDERFUL. The toe box has plenty of room. The top or the instep feels like it was made for me. They are real leather uppers. I can tell the're a bit "stiff", and will take a little bit of breaking in. The STYLE is SO CUTE. I put them on the morning and walk around the house in them. I know they're excellent quality. But I think all new shoes need a bit of breaking in. A WORD OF CAUTION: Knowing this, I would caution you to NOT buy these if you are buying them and walking long distances through airports, a healthy long jaunt to your car (to and from the airport).. YES buy these, but your feet won't be able to take the stiffness, when they are brand new. Get them ahead of time, break them in for a month or two. But this is the voice of experience......don't torture your feet! Really, I couldn't be happier with these cute shortie boots. I generally don't spend this much money on this type of shoe, but really glad I treated myself. UPDATE: These are about 2 weeks old, and I've worn them almost everyday since I got them. These ankle boots are gorgeous, very comfortable, very well made. The picture doesn't do the quality justice. I love the Victorian look of them. They're lightweight and so easy to walk in with a sturdy heel and non-skid bottom. I purchased the brown ones and it's a rich color, not too dark, not too light. This is my fifth pair of Spring Step L'Artiste footwear and they do not disappoint. I'm a size 8M in every other pair of shoes and boots I own, but with Spring Step I order the size 39 (81/2) and they're a perfect fit, either with tights or socks. First, I was very unhappy with the quality of these shoes. Hand painted leather was splotchy and honestly looks cheap. The soles were very rigid, no flex and thin. Not comfortable and wouldn't hold up to heavy walking. The details are look cheap and in general I would've expected these to be a $40 costume set of shoes. I couldn't have been more upset upon unboxing. Then the return.. be aware this seller will charge you $9.95 in addition to you paying for your own return shipping. I spent $20 on return shipping as it was the cheapest possible, meaning I lost $29.95 on the transaction. Another important note, the company requires your product be returned within 15 days - a very short return window with usps issues during a pandemic. In general I was off put by the harsh customer service, poor quality product, and difficulty of return. I would not try again with this brand, personally. Read more
