My older dog use to have this ball about 6 years ago. He treasured this thing, until the younger dog saw it and tore it apart. It use to be a Petsmart product, but it was discontinued. Comparing the two, this ball is much larger, and a thicker rubber. Ours personally does not have a strong scent (well... now it does: dog breath) as I seen others mention, so I guess that is up to luck. The "squeaker" on this is actually nice to my ears, as it sounds like a low wheeze instead of the typical loud squeak (perfect if you have agitated apartment neighbors). As far as durability, I would highly Not recommend this to dogs that try to rip toys apart (that's how we lost the 1st one!) This ball is better off for dogs who only chew on items. Read more

This toy has a terrible squeaker that was totally dead by day 2. Since that is half the fun of the toy, it loses big marks here. The toy is slightly too large and also too hard, not like the ones I am used to that were a very flexible latex. The dog is not very interested in the toy as it no longer makes a sound, it bores him. After my dog lost his favorite ball I attempted to find another one just like it. I came across this ball which looked the same except for the color. Being a Louisiana native, the colors of this ball [purple, yellow (a substitute for gold), & green] reminded me of Mardi Gras so I was kind of happy about that. This ball is almost twice as big as the one it replaced. It doesn’t squeak very well, and when it is squeezed it has a tendency to remain deflated rather than popping back into place. I think the squeaker was defective upon receipt of the dog toy. I’m uncertain if it’s a manufacturing defect or just the dog toy that I received. My cocker spaniel loves squeak toys, but he hardly gives this one a second glance. Why should he? It’s a squeak toy that hardly makes a sound. Overall this was a very disappointing purchase. I have a 3.5 lb chihuahua who has a favorite toy that looks just like this one, only smaller. His favorite toy is so old that the rubber is beginning to deteriorate, so I bought this as a replacement. You just CANNOT find this toy in any store! I've searched high and low for years. Anyway, this one is too big for his little mouth so, for me, it was a waste of money. It was also extremely overpriced, but I figured if it would last as long as the other one, it would be worth the money. Oh well. I'll give it to one his bigger doggy friends. Read more

This ball is the perfect size and texture for small dogs that are not overly aggressive chewers. It is very cute and colorful. It is made out of latex which stretches and is strong so it doesn't get destroyed immediately. Actually, I've had mine for over a year. Easy squeaker too. Read more

Although this ball is a little steeply priced, it is my toy poodle's favorite toy. She LOVES to chew on it after several throws and retrieves. I had another one before this one and she completely chewed it to the point I had to order another one (after 4 years of chewing). She loved the new one immediately. We throw the several times. she retrieves it several times, and then she stops to chew on it. She chews on it for about 15 to 20 mintes and then wants to start all over again. (Teeth hygiene is important and this ball is good for that). Read more
