Three stars is a pretty low rating for me to give. This item started off immediately with the loss of one star because, even from a distance, the buckle looks like "Cracker Jack" prize quality. I guess that dated me pretty well. For those that don't know what that means ask an adult. It appears that the belt itself is actually leather. The tooling is clearly machine done, but it is deep and crisp and a bit too uniform to be hand done. The back side of the belt appears to be leather and smells like kinda poor quality leather should smell. The edges are so burnished that it is hard to tell if the belt is one thickness of full grain or a leather back with an embossed plastic outer layer. The listing copy says it is leather, but leather has become a very flexible term. My wife's new RAV4 has Eco Leather i.e. vinyl seats yet the dealership called it leather!!! This item does have an unusual accessory. It comes with a cheap, but utilitarian leather punch for adding additional holes! My assessment of this item is that if you want a cowboy look for a party or other event, at <$20.00 this is the ticket. I gave the buckle to my grandson as an "object de art" and put a brass buckle on the belt. I will use it a while and report back if it starts to crack. Read more
