It's alright. Doesn't particularly look like a flame, more like a bunch of blinking lights inside a frosted bulb. Read more
The media could not be loaded. This is a cute little flame bulb! It's socket is standard sized and I put it in one of my lamps. The light is not adjustable in any way, with only on/off options. The light it gives off really does look like a flickering flame, though I do wish the speed of the movement was a little slower. But overall this is a perfect bulb for Halloween or cottagecore/goblincore vibes without the danger of a real flame. Read more
I mote note up front that arrived damaged, so my review is based on re-assembly though I think it is working properly. At least this way I can show some of the inner workings?! I did confirm all the "LEDs" lit and none were dead or broke so I also assume the electronics and drivers were also working as designed. The photos show the box sustained damage (inside a perfectly fine Amazon shipping box!) and clearly had some trauma on the product box that not only ripped open one end, but also dislodged the "plastic diffuser and cover". I can confirm this piece is an opaque white - the yellow light comes from the LEDs themselves. After carefully testing it to see that each visible LED "COB" (chip on board) was working, I reattached the cover (which is NOT supposed to be off or expose the electronics!) The "flicker effect" (their words, not mine) comes from the electronics visible in the photo (by the top and more inside the inner tube) that cycles the LED's on and off - more at the "top" than the bottom. To me this does not look at all like a flickering flame but does make an effect I guess. The bulb is never dark, with the bottom of the bulb (the socket end) always being lit, and progressively more "on/off cycling" as you move up toward the other end. I was unable to capture and upload a video. The "display" produced is not random but the wave or swirling on/off pattern repeats every 2-3 seconds or so and is noticeably regular/repeatable. In the final analysis, this gives the effect to a room's objects of a flame perhaps at a very "warm" light color output, but the bulb itself does not really look at all like a candle or flame itself.
