After a Bizarro makes a disastrous attempt to save kids on a playground who don’t need saving, Superman decides to take Bizarro to a new world he’s discovered which he has named Bizarro World. Flash forward one year and an attack on Lex Corp brings the Justice League to investigate, only to discover that Bizarro has stolen the duplicate ray and makes twins of the entire League. Now the heroes and their twisted twins must team up to defeat Darkseid and save Bizarro World. While this short film follows LEGO Batman: The Movie – DC Superheroes Unite, it’s not a direct sequel to those and doesn’t include anything related the Brainiac tease that ended that film. It is more of a sequel to the Batman Be-Leagured TV special (more on that in the special features.) Between that first Lego Batman movie and The Lego Movie, there are some pretty big shoes to fill and this film does an admirable job. The voice work is good, with Troy Baker returning to play Batman and Tony Todd as Darkseid. While Lex Luthor is a minor character, I did miss Clancy Brown’s take on the character. The rest of the cast rounds out the heroes and villains nicely so it’s a small gripe. The animation is once again very well done and we get a good mix of heroes and villains in bit parts. While the main cast is comprised of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg and Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern as well as their bizarro counterparts, we’re treated to Hawkman, Flash, Green Arrow, Plastic Man, Gorilla Grodd, Penguin, Deathstoke, Captain Cold and Giganta. It’s one of my favorite parts when all the characters keep popping in, making me wonder who else they might include, but at that point it’s off to Bizarro World and there aren’t any more surprise guests (well, I won’t spoil the end for you). The special features are pretty decent, with a large selection of audio and subtitle languages, the usual trailer they squeeze on for other releases and three short pieces. Me Am Bizarro: The League of Opposites is a behind the scenes with some of the principles behind the film and a history of Bizarro and some insights into the production. Batman: Be-Leagured is the TV special that the main feature follows. It’s inclusion is important, it’s seems like it’s been relegated to a bonus when you should watch it first if you haven’t seen it. The final short is Be-Leagured Bloopers, which is just some goofy “out-takes from the TV special. Overall it’s a pretty good release with the film being solid and thankfully keeping it brief at 49 minutes. Any longer and it would have overstayed it’s welcome. It’s a good addition if you’ve enjoyed the other Lego movies and the Batzarro mini-fig pack in is a cool extra. Read more

This is such a treat! How often do you get a movie AND a cool toy? NEVER! It's like as rare as getting a happy meal with a toy you can actually play with these days. Remember when you used to be able to get a happy meal and the toy was an ACTUAL cool toy? Like a raisenette playing the saxophone or a mini cabbage patch kid? Yeah, that's what this movie is like! You get a pretty cool movie and a freaking awesome mini figure. Save that mini figure and some day when your DVD is worth a penny to trade in at your local child resale store you can laugh and say "hey- that's okay! I still have the kick butt minifig from this movie that's worth at least $3.75 if only little Magnus didn't rip off the cape and chew on the ears!" Read more

I love to watch all the original films from DCU. When I heard there was going to be some Lego DC films, I thought ... "WTF? How will that work?" After watching this movie, I have to say that it works surprisingly well. Unlike the other films from DCU, Lego DC Super Heroes: Justice League vs Bizzaro League is a film you can actually watch with your kids. It is nice to see a comic book film that is still accessible for kids. This film is fun and adventurous without being cheesy. The Lego interpretation of the greatest superhero team in the DC universe is unique, entertaining, and well worth the cost of renting or buying. This is a fun direct-to-market film that will entertain you. Read more

This is actually a great fan service video, especially if you read the comics. The amount of fan humor than only a DC fan would get probably occupied half of all the jokes, which may have this end up with a bad rating but if you love your DC you will love this. And of course Lego does a very good job with this stuff I'm always impressed with what they can do with just legos.... its very impressive. Read more

And that is really a pity. Coming up with a longer story which had the same qualities as this would have been very nice. As it is, though, it is still interesting watching. Bizarro is given his own planet and then Darkseid shows up to steal its citizens (crystal pillars with faces carved on them). He creates Bizarro versions of the other Justice League members and everybody gets to work together to defeat Darkseid. So, it has a plot, the animation is fine, the story-telling is fine -- all in all, a good movie. Just too short. But the kids it is aimed at probably won't mind. Read more

This video also includes a bonus feature film: Lego Justice League Beleaguered, which we watched for free on TV. Both Stories are excellent and my family is happy to have both of them. These Lego films show the DC Universe branching out into the lives of their many characters in an orderly and rational approach. I'd rate Vs Bizzaro League as 4 stars as I didn't think Bizzaro didn't always do everything backwards. We really thought Beleaguered was lots of fun and worth watching over and over, plus it is a mystery. So I'd give it a 5 star rating. My family enjoyed these features and will revisit them frequently. Read more
